Baška Voda is one of the famous resorts of the Adriatic. It attracts tourists with its picturesque nature, good weather and friendly locals. If you have been fascinated by photos of Baška-voda for a long time , then it is time to turn your dream into reality and take a (albeit virtual) trip to this colorful place.
Baška Voda is one of the most peaceful resorts on the Croatian Adriatic. Previously, a fishing village was located on this place, which quickly grew into a village with a permanent population of 3,000 people. This is a place with a very rich history: archaeological findings show that people lived here already during the Roman Empire.
What to see?
There are not so many sights in the village of Baška-Voda, but they are quite interesting.
Church of St. Nicholas
The Church of St. Nicholas is probably the main attraction of the small resort. It was built in the 19th century, and the priest’s house and bell tower were added less than 30 years ago. A distinctive feature of the temple is an unusual combination of Baroque and Gothic: the building itself is made in the Baroque style, but the details (stained glass windows, sculptures) belong to the Gothic.
By the way, the church is named in honor of St. Nicholas for a reason – he is the spiritual protector of Baška Vod and Croatia as a whole, and also protects all tourists and sailors from troubles on the way.
Monument of St. Nikolai
The continuation of the church of St. Nicholas is a monument dedicated to the saint. The venerable old man has been standing on the snow-white embankment of the town for more than 20 years and shows the way to travelers towards the sea. Apparently, it is this attraction that can be seen more often than others in the photo of the town of Baška Voda in Croatia.
Quay
The embankment is a business card of any city in Croatia, including Baška Voda . Giant palm trees, snow-white boats and white bricks – this is probably how you can describe the embankment of this town. There are also many benches and ice cream tents. A true paradise! The huge number of flower beds is also impressive – there are even more of them on the embankment than in the city center.
Baška Voda beaches
As in any other resort, Baška Voda has several beautiful beaches. The best of them are described below.
Nikolina
Nikolina is one of the best not only in Baška Voda , but also in all of Croatia. It is located in the very center of the resort, so there are always a lot of local residents and tourists here. But despite the crowds, this is a very cozy place, surrounded by a pine forest, which creates artificial shade and allows you to hide from prying eyes. It is a pebbly beach and the water here is clean, which is confirmed by the Blue Flag.
As for the infrastructure, on the beach you can rent umbrellas for 25 kuna and sunbeds for 30 kuna, there is also a free shower and toilet. For those who don’t like to just lie in the sun, there will be interesting channels of riding a motor boat or catamaran (60 Kuna), and playing volleyball on one of the three courts. For children, there is also a play area with trampolines and several attractions. There are several inexpensive cafes and restaurants near the beach.
Ikovac beach
Ikovac is located in the north of the village of Baška-Voda , near the hotel “Dubravka” . The entrance to the sea is smooth, the surface is sandy with small pebbles. The water is clear, there are no sea urchins, and the beach itself is small and cozy. Mostly tourists with children rest here, and there are not many Croatians (they prefer Nikolin).
There is a toilet, a shower cabin and several cafes on Ikovach beach. Umbrellas and sunbeds can be rented nearby (25-30 kuna).
Osieka (Oseka beach)
Osieka is the most unusual beach in Croatia. Both nudists and everyone else can rest here. It is located on the outskirts of the town, right behind the bar “Oseka” (20 minutes from the embankment on foot). Given the small number of people, the water here is very clean, and there are always plenty of free places. The entrance to the sea is gentle, and the surface is made of small pebbles. Due to the fact that the beach is relatively far from the center, you can meet sea urchins here.
There is a shower cabin and a bar on the beach
Wild or “dog” beach
Wild beach is located in the southern part of the Baška Voda resort. The entrance to the water is steep and deeper than on other beaches of the village. The water is very clean, and there is practically no garbage on the pebble surface.
The infrastructure includes a toilet, a shower and a small bar. The Apollon diving club is also located nearby.
Where is it located: in the south of Baška-Voda.
Vacation. Prices for accommodation and meals
Baška Voda is a popular tourist destination in the summer, so you need to think about booking rooms in advance.
The cheapest accommodation option for two people in the 3-4 star Croatian hotel Baška Voda is 120 kuna, in apartments – 150. The average price for accommodation in a 3-4 star hotel is about 700-850 kuna per day.
There are many restaurants and cafes in Baška Voda.
Dinner in an inexpensive restaurant in the heart of the resort will cost 30-35 kuna (rice + seafood + drink).
But on the embankment, prices are higher: the average bill for dinner is 40-45 kuna (vegetable salad + seafood + drink).
Infrastructure development
Despite the fact that Baška-Voda is a small village, there is really a lot of entertainment here. First, it is diving. The Poseidon Resort Diving Center conducts recruitment for scuba diving courses and also organizes trips to interesting places for the purpose of diving.
Secondly, in Baška-Voda much attention is paid to the night life of the village and various festivals. One of the most famous is the holiday in honor of St. Lavr’s Day on August 10. For almost a whole week, the music does not stop in the town, and at every step you can see talented street artists and local residents in traditional Croatian clothes. There are also several bars in Baška Voda , which are located on the beaches of the city.
Thirdly, there are many cafes and restaurants in Baška Voda . Some of them prepare only traditional Croatian dishes, which is very attractive to tourists.
