As a result of the merger of nine resort villages, the largest resort in Austria appeared – Ski World Wilder Kaiser – Brixental. You will need more than one day to go around all the slopes in the resort. Thanks to the excellent infrastructure of the resort, it is not difficult for a tourist to get from one part of the resort to another, and you will also be pleased with the almost complete absence of queues at the lifts. From the peaks of the resort, a beautiful panorama of the rocky mountain “Wilder Kaiser” opens.

The ski world “Wilder Kaiser – Brixental Valley” is the largest combined skiing area not only in Austria, but also in the entire Alpine region and is also one of the snowiest winter sports regions with a variety of opportunities.
The resort is considered one of the snowiest and most diverse winter sports centers in the Alps. Skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts will surely enjoy the descents along 284 km of perfectly prepared slopes, including 21 descents into the valley, to 9 villages that differ in character and architectural style. In the SkiWelt you can ski on new slopes every day and never repeat the same descent twice.
“There is everything your heart desires” is the slogan of the largest combined ski resort SkiWelt Wilder-Kaiser-Brixental. All the wishes of winter sports enthusiasts are fulfilled here. The ski complex consists of nine resorts: Brixen im Thal, Ellmau, Going, Hopfgarten, Itter, Kelhzau, Scheffau, Zell and Westenhof. All resorts and their ski runs are connected to each other by a single mountain cable car, often with a long descent of many kilometers into the valley.
General information
The Wilder Kaiser / Brixental ski region in the Tyrolean mountains unites nine resort villages located at an altitude of 621 to 804 m.

The region rightly calls itself “SkiWelt” (i.e. “Ski World”): here tourists are waiting for 250 km of prepared ski slopes and more than 90 lifts in the skiing area 620-1829 m above sea level, as well as ski (165 km) and virgin slopes. The ski bus, of course, runs between all villages, and the ski pass applies to the entire region.
The mighty and beautiful Wilder Kaiser ridge gave the name to the region, but tourists can only admire its teeth from afar: the slopes of the “Wild Kaiser” are not intended for alpine skiing.
The center of skiing is considered to be the Hohe Salwe mountain (1,829 m), the top of which is easily accessible by ski lifts from almost all villages. Only in Westendorf and Kelhzau, located a little further away, you need to first take a ski bus and only then use the lift.
Each of the villages included in the region has its own skiing area. For example, the skiing area of Going is Astberg (1,267 m), Ellmau – Hartkaiser (1,525 m), Scheffau – Brandstadtl (1,650 m). The villages of Itter, Hopfgarten and Zelle are located near Hohe Salwe. Zelle, thanks to its very successful central location in a sun-drenched valley, attracts special attention from tourists. A three-kilometer floodlit slope allows skiing and sledding even after dark. For cross-country skiers, a 30-kilometer track is equipped, combined with a 130-kilometer ski run and the famous “Kaiserloipe” (225 km).

From Brixen, skiers go to Hochbrixen (1,300 m) or the Candleralm on the opposite side of the Brixental valley.
Guests of Westendorf can easily reach the slopes of the Horalpe (1820 m), and there is also the nearby Flaeding (1892 m).
There are relatively few prepared slopes in Kelhzau, but there is a “half-pipe” for snowboarders (120 m). By the way, there is a snowboarding chute (100 m) in the Westendorf fun park.
From the top of the Hohe Salve, the most difficult route (to Zell, along the northern slope) and the longest route (to Kraftalm and Itter, 8000 m, elevation gain 1200 m) lead down.
The Hochsöll – Zell route (3000 m) is illuminated from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (except Sunday and Monday).
The range of slopes is diverse and will satisfy every taste – most of the slopes are designed for beginners – many speed runs, some with speed measurement, enough trails with night lighting, in addition, three fun parks for freestyle, and not a hint of boredom.
The advantages of family vacations are obvious: there are numerous training areas for children on the territory and many establishments with professional supervision of the youngest guests of the resort. Experienced skiers looking for adventure choose the black slopes starting from the top of the Choralpe. The difference in altitude on the black slopes is, without exaggeration, 80%.

How to get to Wilder Kaiser-Brixenthal from Munich
The Wilder Kaiser-Brixenthal ski resort is the largest in Austria. There are only about a hundred lifts. The resort is comfortable and reasonably priced, in 2013 Wilder Kaiser was chosen as the best ski resort in terms of price and quality in Austria. We heard different reviews about it, mostly positive, but it’s better to see it once than … In short, early Saturday morning our car was racing along the figure eight from Munich towards the Austrian border. Having bought a vignette at a gas station, we then drove along the autobahn to Kufstein and then to Wörgl as if on autopilot. There we got off at the E641 towards Brixental / Brixen im Tahle and were already moving to the place using the navigator. We were there at about 10 am.
Skiing
SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser Brixental, although it is the largest ski resort in terms of area, the peaks here are not as high and steep as, for example, in Sölden. The skiing area is within 2000 meters, the slopes are mostly blue and red. But even in cool weather it is more comfortable to ski here than at other resorts, the temperature is always slightly higher than at the three-thousanders. In terms of beauty, the mountain landscapes have almost no equal in Austria.
The entire infrastructure of the resort is so well thought out, there are many lifts, both with comfortable chairs, both closed and towable. The lift ticket cost 45 euros per person per day. For those who like to ride with the breeze, 8 high-speed descents are offered. Then there are 3 tracks where you can record the time it takes you to go down. But that’s not all. For those who want to look at themselves from the outside, there is even one track with a video recording. There is also a track for night skiing.

Service and Après-Ski
In Brixena, tourist service is organized at a high level, there is everything you need for normal leisure and skiing. As everywhere in resorts of this level, there is a ski school, including for children. For fans, there are sled runs and a ski slope for cross-country skiing.
Après-Ski at the resort is generally typical, there are many restaurants and spa centers, but the degree of night parties, according to rumors, is not over the top here. But you can have a very high-quality dinner in a restaurant, delicious Tyrolean cuisine with dumplings and schnitzels. With a glass of mulled wine, everything goes to your satisfaction. In general, we can say that after a good, non-stressful skiing you get a completely comfortable leisure time, it is not for nothing that this resort is occupied mainly by respectable Germans and Dutch.
For those who prefer active recreation: a complex with indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools and saunas, ice skating, squash, bowling, curling, paragliding, equipped trails for winter walks and trekking, toboggan runs (in Zelle 3 km long, in Brixen 2 tracks with a total length of 3 km). In Ellmau, the resort offers guests the Kaiserbad sports and recreation complex. Every Thursday in Ellmau, a “ski night” is held – skiing by torchlight, performances by folklore groups and a sea of mulled wine. In Iter, vacationers can admire the ancient castle and church. In Westendorf you can do a tandem paragliding flight with an instructor. In Going, Iter, Zelle and Scheffau it is allowed to ride toboggan runs at night.
