Oberstdorf – ski resort in Germany, located in the Allgäu Alps at an altitude of 815 meters above sea level, has a reputation as one of the best winter recreation centers in the country.
The developed infrastructure of the resort, combined with the beauty of the surrounding area, many sunny days a year, mountain climate, excellent ski slopes and interesting sights, attracts winter sports enthusiasts to Oberstdorf, mainly from Germany. There are very few foreign tourists, including Ukrainians, who rest here.

Oberstdorf is also known as the largest international ski center. Every year, events such as the “Tour of Four Hills”, the World Ski Jumping Championships, and the international figure skating competition “Nebelhorn Trophy” are held here.
Oberstdorf is located in the southern part of Bavaria, in the district of Swabia, in the Oberalgöy district, 4 km from the border with Austria.

How to get to Oberstdorf
By plane to Munich, then by train to the city, which continues to the main station. Regional trains depart from the station to Oberstdorf, the journey time is 2.5 hours.
Ski slopes and lifts in Oberstdorf
General information
The winter season in the ski resort lasts from December to April. Thanks to snow cannons, the snow in the resort is maintained in perfect condition throughout the season.
Oberstdorf offers 37 ski slopes in 3 ski areas – Zellereck, Nebelhorn and Fellhorn-Kantzelwand. The slopes are served by a developed network of lifts.
Well-groomed and diverse trails have different levels of difficulty and length, designed for skiers of different levels of training – from children and beginners to experienced skiers.
For snowboarders and freestylers, all conditions for excellent skiing and the opportunity to perform tricks, jumps and hone their skills are created here. For snowboarders, the resort has a halfpipe and three fun parks.



Good conditions are also created here for cross-country skiers. Ski trails with a length of more than 70 km are designed for both freestyle and skate skiing.
There are also snow parks with playgrounds for children in Oberstdorf.
Skiing regions in Oberstdorf
The Zellereck ski area, located at an altitude of 830-1450 meters above sea level, is ideal for families with children and beginner skiers.
Zellereck has a small fun park for snowboarders and the Sölli-Kinderland children’s playground, where children are taught to ski in a playful way, as well as a sled run.
There are 8 runs in the area: 4 blue and 4 red, which are served by 5 lifts.
The Wannenköpfle run is designed for beginner skiers, the high Schrattenwang slopes and the wide Ochsenhöfle slopes are suitable for intermediate skiers.
There is one restaurant in the ski area where you can eat and relax.

The Nebelhorn ski area, located at an altitude of 828-2224 meters above sea level, is the highest mountain area in the Allgäu region.
The Nebelhorn slopes are more suitable for experienced skiers. For snowboarders and freestylers, there is a fun park and a 100-meter halfpipe, and for adults and children – a snow amusement park. There is also a toboggan run in the area.
There are 10 pistes in Nebelhorn: 3 blue, 4 red and 3 black, served by 7 lifts.
There are several mountain restaurants in the ski area.

The Fellhorn-Kantzelwand ski area, located at an altitude of 920-1967 meters above sea level, is the largest ski area in Oberstdorf and is ideal for intermediate skiers and snowboarders.
The area has 19 excellent ski runs, of which 5 are blue, 13 are red and 1 is black. The slopes are served by 14 modern lifts.
For children and beginners there is Easy Park and Funslope, where you can practice snowboard jumping, and the Crystal Ground fun park, which will be appreciated by experienced snowboarders.
There are 8 restaurants and mountain huts in the ski area, which offer snacks, drinks and home-cooked local cuisine.

A ski area of two countries
The ski region provides a unique opportunity for skiing not only in Germany, but also in Austria, on the border of which is the Austrian ski resort of Kleinwalsertal, which can only be reached from Oberstdorf.
Due to their close proximity, the two ski resorts of Oberstdorf and Kleinwalsertal form the so-called “ski area of two countries”, offering a total of 128 km of ski slopes of varying difficulty and length for skiers of all levels, 115 km of cross-country ski trails and a wealth of winter activities for children and adults.
Snowboarders and freestylers in the region will be delighted by the “Crystal Ground” snow park with kickers, rails and other obstacles. Thanks to the evening lighting, you can train and hone your skills in the park every Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
There is a single ski pass for the lifts in the Oberstdorf-Kleinwalsertal ski region.

Oberstdorf offers several ski schools for adults and children – Ntc Sport Entertainment, Neue Skischule, Alpin Skischule, Erste Skischule, Out of Bounds.
The ski schools offer individual and group lessons in winter sports such as alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding and telemarking.
Qualified instructors will help you master the basics and skills of skiing, as well as improve your technique.
For the youngest guests of the resort, there is a ski kindergarten.


You can rent the necessary high-quality ski equipment and gear at the rental points, and buy sporting goods in the shops.
Hotels in Oberstdorf
Oberstdorf offers a variety of accommodation options to meet everyone’s needs. Guests can choose from hotels, cottages, apartments, guest houses, and holiday homes.
Most hotels are 3* and 4*, and there are few 5-star hotels here. Hotels are located mainly in the city center and on the outskirts, not near the ski lifts.
The hotels offer cozy and clean rooms with all the amenities for relaxation. There is Wi-Fi, cable TV, ski storage, and they also offer a rich and varied buffet breakfast.
Some hotels have a spa center with a swimming pool and sauna, a bar, a playground, and parking.
Many guest houses in Oberstodorf are family-run, where you can rent apartments for a group of friends at a very reasonable price.

Lovers of exoticism and romance can stay in the snow hotel “Iglu Lodge”, which is located in the Nebelhorn ski area. The snow hotel is designed to accommodate 30 people. It offers rooms for 2-4 people, there is an ice bar and an ice dining room, as well as a jacuzzi in which you can relax and admire the night starry sky.
In the Zellereck ski area, in the immediate vicinity of the ski lift, the hotel “Berghaus Schönblick” is located, offering comfortable accommodation in single, double and family rooms, as well as rooms for large groups.
Wittelsbacher Hof 4 star hotel







This hotel in the centre of Oberstdorf offers an indoor pool. It offers beautiful mountain views and is ideal for a relaxing break in the Allgäu region of the Bavarian Alps.
The Wittelsbacher Hof has cosy rooms with cable TV, a safe and a minibar. A breakfast buffet is included in the room rate.
Specialities and creative dishes from the Allgäu region are served in the hotel’s cosy, traditional restaurant.

The beautiful and easily accessible Der Landhof country house is quietly located among dandelion meadows, hiking trails and cross-country ski trails, south of Oberstdorf. Guests can enjoy free WiFi. The local train station and the Erdinger Arena ski jump area are 2 km away.
During the summer months, from May to October, guests receive free daily mountain railway tickets to Oberstdorf and the nearby Kleinwalsertal ski area.

Things to do and see in Oberstdorf
Oberstdorf offers a wide range of activities and cultural events in addition to skiing.
At the disposal of vacationers – paragliding, curling, snowshoeing, sledding, air cushioning, ice skating, snow scooters and snow bikes, exciting trips through the picturesque terrain on dog sleds and snowmobiles, as well as 140 km of winter hiking trails laid through the most beautiful places in the region.



You can experience this mountain adventure by riding off the slopes on a light inflatable sled “Aeroboard”, and thrill seekers will be able to experience vivid impressions from the descent from the slope in an inflatable transparent ball “Zorba”.
The resort has an entertaining sledding track on rails with a length of 850 meters, a quick descent along which on a double sled at a speed of up to 40 km / h will bring a lot of joy and pleasure to adults and children. The sledding track is located in the Zellereck skiing area.
For children, the resort has children’s clubs, playgrounds and various entertainment programs.


Oberstdorf Therme Spa Center
When vacationing in the German Oberstdorf ski resort, be sure to visit the Oberstdorf Therme recreation center, which is located in the heart of the city. This is a complex of outdoor and indoor pools, solariums, Alpine-style saunas, steam rooms, aroma baths, and areas for children and family recreation.
This is the place where you can relax and restore strength spent on the slopes. A special pride of the complex is the thermal pool with saline solutions, visiting which has a beneficial effect on the treatment and prevention of many skin diseases, and helps with problems with the musculoskeletal system.
