Bormio is a two-in-one resort. On the one hand, the town is famous for its skiing opportunities, and it is not for nothing that various sports championships have been held here. On the other hand, there are 9 thermal springs on the territory of the city, which provides unlimited opportunities for relaxation and recreation in local spas and thermal complexes. Bormio is a self-sufficient resort and quite remote from the major cities of Northern Italy.

Located in Bormio, it is actually on the border with Switzerland and is part of the Alta Valtellina ski region. This descent can be made without additional stops for transitions, choosing a route suitable for yourself in terms of complexity. Twice a week, it is possible to descend the ski slopes at night. The total length of the slopes is 110 km, of which black slopes occupy 12 km, red – 64 km, blue – 34 km.

January is considered the coldest month, but due to the moderate humidity, frosts in this area are tolerated quite easily.

In summer, Bormio is also not hot, which allows you to engage in active sports all year round. At an altitude where snow almost never falls, you can ski or snowboard.

How to get to the resort

There is no airport or train station in this area, so the entire journey involves transfers.

There are several ways to get to the resort region:

  • By plane. The flight is to one of the international airports of Milan and Bergamo. Then you can get from the airport by taxi or bus. During the active season, transportation is provided by the MT Bus shuttle.
  • By bus. This method is the easiest, but depends on current weather conditions. During heavy snowfalls, some roads may be closed for safety reasons. The following passes operate all year round: Bernina Pass, Livigno Tunnel, Umbrail, Forcola.
  • By train. Tirano railway station is located 30 km from Bormio. There are 2 ways to get to the resort: from Switzerland by train along the route St. Moritz – Tirano – St. Moritz, from Italy by train along the route Milan – Tirano – Milan.
