Andalo-Fai della Paganella is considered the oldest resort. The track was first laid at the beginning of the 20th century. Currently, this resort is very popular with professionals, since most of the routes are marked in black and red. There are no slopes for beginners. Andalo-Fai della Paganella is divided into three parts – Molva, Andalo and Fai della Paganella. The second and third parts of the resort are equipped with lifts right within the city, but in the first case, residents will have to get to the track by bus. But the town of Molva is located in the most picturesque place, on the shores of Lake Molva, which is surrounded by powerful mountain ranges.

The Paganella Plateau is one of the best ski resorts in Trentino in terms of equipment. It can be easily reached via the Brenner motorway. The local slopes offer incomparable views of the Dolomites, and in good weather you can even see the Valley of the Lakes and Lake Garda.

Near the Adamello-Brenta Natural Park, from the top of Paganella (2125 m) wonderful ski slopes begin, which descend to the 1000 m mark, where the plateau is located, to the Fai and Andalo stations. The youngest can use 4 training areas, 2 snow playgrounds with children’s lifts, as well as a snow park. Thanks to a modern system of programmed snow spraying, the resort administration guarantees the necessary conditions for skiing throughout the season. You can use the services of ski school instructors (there are 5 of them in Andalo and one in Fai della Paganella).

Andalo and Fai della Paganella are small but modern resorts, famous for their picturesque landscapes and good weather. The length of the slopes of the Andalo and Fai della Paganella zones is almost 50 km, 50% of which are “red”, so it will be difficult for beginner skiers to ski in this region. Another 15% belong to the “black” slopes and are very popular with extreme sports. Only 35% are “blue” and “green”, but they run through very picturesque places. There are 18 lifts. Almost all the slopes are equipped with snow cannons, so you can ski in this region from December to April.

The slopes of the plateau and Mount Paganella (2125 m), on which the Fai della Paganella skiing area is located, can be considered one of the first ski resorts in the region – already at the beginning of the 20th century, sports competitions were held here, and in the middle of the 20th century, the Tre slope hosted world championship competitions. Now it is a paradise for experienced skiers – almost all the slopes are of the above-average category. However, ordinary tourists are also welcome here, as the resort is developing rapidly and new and new trails are constantly appearing. The resort offers hotels for every taste, as well as indoor swimming pools, ice rinks and racetracks. For cross-country skiers, 15 km of trails have been prepared, of which about 3 km are illuminated for skiing after sunset.

Andalo – ski resort

The Andalo ski resort is located in the northern region of Italy and is part of the famous Skirama Dolomiti region. Together with another resort, Fai della Paganella, it is combined into a single skiing area, which is a modern sports complex that offers its visitors a wide range of winter sports. Despite its compactness and relatively small mileage, Andalo – Fai della Paganella is quite functional and practical to use. As a rule, intermediate and professional skiers ski here. For beginners, the choice of slopes is extremely small, and the local routes of medium difficulty are beyond their power. The season in this area of Skirama Dolomiti lasts from December to April, and although there are no super-high peaks here, the quality of the snow cover is always at the proper level, although it is achieved largely thanks to artificial snow machines.

The nearest large city to the resort is Trento, and among the villages and ski areas neighboring Andalo, Riva del Garda, Val di Sole, Ponte di Legno, Monte Bondone and the famousMadonna di Campiglio. A bus runs constantly throughout the region, connecting all the settlements of the Dolomiti di Brenta. Nightlife, as well as the entertainment infrastructure, are not well developed here, but there is a wide selection of hotels, as well as good conditions for shopping and tasting local culinary dishes. In general, the resort is perfectly adapted for people who prefer a quiet, peaceful holiday surrounded by picturesque nature.

Andalo Ski Resort, Italy

Skiing Areas

Andalo’s slopes are located at altitudes from 1040 to 2125 meters, with a varied terrain and fairly steep slopes. At the same time, fans of flat skiing have more than a dozen kilometers of slopes at their disposal. A fan park with a half-pipe is equipped for snowboarders. The Paganella peak, at the foot of which is the resort village of Fai della Paganella, adjacent to Andalo, is 2,125 meters above sea level and is a symbol of the birth of the era of alpine skiing in this region. It was here, at the very beginning of the last century, that the first competitions began to be held, and in the middle of the century, on the Tre track, the first stage of the Alpine Skiing World Championship took place. Most of the local routes have the status of a higher difficulty category. On the lower slopes of the resort there are several routes for beginners, which, however, are more suitable for the qualification of an average level of difficulty. Today, Andalo – Fai della Paganella is considered a dynamically developing ski center, where new routes are laid every year and specialized areas for skiing are equipped. In addition to skiing, numerous tourists can fully use the potential of the resort. Winter sports enthusiasts can use sledges, roller skates, snowshoes, and snowmobiles for rent. Some trails are illuminated at night, allowing tourists to fully enjoy their vacation regardless of the time of day.

Of course, one ride within the combined resort of Andalo – Fai della Paganella is clearly not enough for a tourist who knows his taste in downhill skiing. In order to experience all the trails in this area, only a few hours are enough, so the best option is to purchase a single “ski pass” for the entire Skirama Dolomiti region. This allows its owner to increase the total skiing area to several hundred kilometers with unlimited use of the lifts and tourist bus. In addition, the chance to visit the famous Madonna di Campiglio and evaluate the quality of the slopes in the surrounding areas is already worth the money spent, especially since their amount is not so significant compared to buying a ski pass in the fashionable resort of Madonna di Campiglio.

Resort infrastructure

The village of Andalo itself is located at an altitude of 1042 meters above sea level, in the wide mountain saddle of the Val di Non. According to researchers, the first mention of this settlement dates back to the 12th century AD. A living testament to the depth of history of these places is the local parish church, built in the Middle Ages and representing a typical example of the architectural style of those years. Most of the local residents, one way or another, are involved in the tourism sector. Someone works in the hotel business, someone sells souvenirs, someone is engaged in servicing ski slopes. As entertainment for tourists, the building of the local cinema and one disco-type establishment with a bar located in it are presented. There are several restaurants, indoor swimming pools, supermarkets and shops.

The Andalo Sports Center is a real sports citadel; there is an indoor skating rink, gyms, swimming pools and the ACQUAIN spa center with an area of about a thousand square meters. Two circular cross-country ski trails with evening lighting are located around Lake Andalo. There are also 3 km of paved trails for walking in the snow, as well as sledding and horse-drawn sleigh tracks.

The Paganelli-Brenta ski pass is part of the Skirama Dolomiti Adamello-Brenta area. All types of equipment can be rented on site, and the skibus transports passengers for free.

Both Andala and Fai della Paganella have a whole range of hotels to suit every taste and budget. Accommodation prices are quite reasonable, and the quality of service is always at a decent level. For tourists seeking privacy, apartments are provided on the slopes themselves in close proximity to the lifts. In general, the resort’s hotel complex fits the description of a budget accommodation option, although there are hotels here that belong to a higher category, despite their limited star rating.

Italians themselves especially like to relax here, so to some extent the resort can be considered a ski resort of local importance.
