Vogel is the only ski resort with fantastic views of the Triglav mountain peak, located in the Triglav National Park itself. It is sometimes mistakenly called the “Bohinj ski resort”, but this is incorrect, because Bohinj is the name of the lake at its foot.
Vogel is the highest ski resort in Slovenia, located at an altitude of 1800 meters above sea level, so the views there are no worse than in Austria. If you want the feeling of being in the real Alps – Vogel is for you.

There is significantly more snow here than in many European resorts of the same altitude, and you can ski on natural, stable snow almost until the end of April. And since the resort is located in a protected area, snow cannons and other interventions in the natural snow cover are not used here.
Although the resort itself cannot be called very high – only 1525 m – the view from the peaks more than compensates for this feature, because there are few places in Europe where you can ski or snowboard with a view of an alpine glacial lake. A gondola cable car will lift you from the valley to a height of 1525 m above sea level.
The Vogel ski resort is located in the immediate vicinity of the very beautiful Lake Bohinj, which is no less beautiful than Bled, and in some ways even surpasses it. Lake Bohinj is located high in the mountains, in their stone bowl. A real mountain lake! In addition, from the shores of this lake there is an amazing view of Triglav – the highest mountain peak in Slovenia, immortalized on the Slovenian flag.
How to get there
Ljubljana Airport is an hour’s drive from the resort. Salzburg Airport is 3 hours 45 minutes away.
The most convenient way to get to the airport is to order a taxi transfer
There is a bus from Ljubljana to the Vogel resort, which costs only 8 euros.
Slopes and lifts
Well-equipped slopes of various levels of difficulty are suitable for both beginners and experienced skiers. It is here that the longest slope in Slovenia is located – Žagarjeva zapadina. In order to organize your skiing holiday in the best way, choose one of the hotels in the Bohinj region for accommodation – many of them provide free transfer to the cable car and even include ski passes in the price. The length of all slopes is 22 km, easy slopes 9.5 km and more difficult slopes 12.5 km.

Vogel in summer
The Vogel ski resort turns into a sheep paradise in summer
Relatively large The ski resort, located in the Julian Alps directly above Lake Bohinj, attracts not only many skiers, but also lovers of tourism and beautiful landscapes every year. And outside the ski season, a gondola lift runs to Vogel, which takes tourists high above Lake Bohinj, to an altitude of 1535 m above sea level. Already while riding the lift, a beautiful view of the surroundings and the lake opens up. After leaving the lift, you find yourself in another world. Here, at least 5 ° C less than below, a cold wind blows, and it even starts to drizzle a little, but this does not spoil the wonderful impressions of this amazing place. A real divine peace reigns everywhere. Tourists from the lift slowly disperse in all directions, because the upper station is the starting point for many hiking excursions. Less than 10 minutes later, you come across a flock of sheep grazing here. The sheep walk along the slopes, and it is clear that they are at home here. There was no shepherd with them, nor a dog to look after them. Soon it finally became clear that there is a hut not far from the slopes.

Vogel’s Sheep
The tourist trail that leads to the “Tochka” observation point is located on relatively steep slopes, where there are many wobbly stones. Therefore, you need to be very careful so that your foot does not get twisted or a stone does not slip out from under your foot.

Observation Point “Tochka”
The observation point “Tochka”, which in good weather offers a beautiful view of the surroundings, is located at an altitude of 1665 m above sea level, and, in addition to a powerful commemorative cross with a bell, there is also a bench.

Bike Park
In addition to skiers and tourists, this place is also popular with cycling enthusiasts, for whom an interesting bike park has been built here. Paragliding enthusiasts will also enjoy themselves here. The starting points (for take-off and landing) are even marked with tourist boards.

Conclusion
Low prices, stunning views of nature, comfortable ski slopes (not too easy and not too difficult) – all this makes Vogel a very, very attractive ski resort. But … No skier goes there unless the folk trail is well-trodden. Krvavec and Kranjska Gora are for some reason always packed, while the attendance of the Vogel resort leaves much to be desired. But this also has its advantages: you can ski without a crowd, enjoy the beauty of the resort and make a wonderful photo shoot. By the way, a year and a half ago the Vogel resort got a new owner and everyone is looking forward to when the wind of change will blow.
