In terms of location, the most conveniently located ski resort in relation to Sarajevo is Bjelašnica (distance 25 kilometers). But convenient location is not the only advantage of this resort. As well as the famous ski resort Jahorina, the Winter Olympics were held here in 1984.

The height of the eponymous mountain Bjelašnica is 2067 meters and according to these indicators it is one of the ten highest mountains in Bosnia. Natural snow lies in this resort for about two hundred days a year. Usually the ski season begins around mid-November and lasts until mid-April. To maintain the snow cover, special snow cannons have been installed, there is a lighting system for night skiing, ski schools, lifts and rental points for all the necessary ski equipment are operating. Hiking and trekking enthusiasts will be pleased, special hiking routes have been laid for them. The resort is considered one of the fastest developing in Bosnia, thanks to investors, new hotels, restaurants are appearing, and the infrastructure is developing.
This is the highest ski resort in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the steepest slopes.
How to get there
You can get there by car from Sarajevo in two ways – via Hadžić or Krupac.
Two buses run in the winter.
Climate
The average annual temperature is 0.7 degrees due to severe winter frosts, with a recorded minimum of -41 degrees. In summer, the temperature does not rise above 24 degrees. There are strong winds.
The average snow cover is 135 cm high, and can be up to 3 meters. The snow lasts up to 200 days a year.
In case of insufficient snow, there are snow cannons.

Trails
Traditionally, the ski season usually lasts from December 15 to April 15. Sometimes the slopes are ready to welcome skiers and snowboarders as early as November. The average snow depth at the top is 135 cm. The total length of the trails reaches 20 km. There are 3 green trails, 4 blue, 5 red and 1 black. In addition, you can enjoy the untouched wilderness in certain parts of the mountains. The longest trail is 3 km long. The elevation difference is 867 m. In 2008, snow cannons and floodlights were installed, so that night skiing enthusiasts can use these well-equipped slopes. Ski schools and equipment rental points are open. In general, the slopes of Białaśnica, with the exception of the Olympic trails, are more suitable for skiers of intermediate level.


A ski pass for one day costs 30 KM (270 UAH), for 5 days – 150 KM (1340 UAH), for a week – 200 KM (1800 UAH).
One of the slopes is illuminated in the dark, skiing is possible until 21.00 on Friday and Saturday.
The total length of the slopes is about 14,000 m.
The highest point: 2067 m.
The lowest point: 1266 m, a valley called Babin do.
Elevation difference: the minimum difference on the Kolijevka slope is 156 m, the maximum on the Kotlovi slope is 900 m.
Lifts
Currently, the resort has two three- and two-seater chairlifts and five tow lifts. It is the tow lift that takes you to the very top of Bjelasnica Mountain, from where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Dinaric Alps and the city of Sarajevo, which lies in the valley. In general, the lifts cope well with the influx of vacationers even during the New Year holidays. The ski resort is currently investing a lot, building hotels and new equipment, including lifts. All this indicates that Bjelasnica has good prospects.

The elegant rooms are carpeted and feature a private bathroom with a shower and a hairdryer. Hotel Han offers ski storage.
The hotel’s restaurant with a fireplace serves traditional regional dishes. The hotel also has a mosque.
Several restaurants, souvenir shops and a spa centre can be found within walking distance, in the Belašnica area. Sarajevo Airport is 20 km from Hotel Han, while the city centre is 30 km away.

Apartments Green is located in Bjelašnica, 20 km from Sarajevo. Jahorina Ski Resort is 23 km away.

Since the products are supplied from the nearest villages, the local cuisine can be described as ecologically clean, and therefore healthy. Nightlife is concentrated in discos at hotels.

How to get there
By car from Sarajevo you can get there in two ways – via Hadžić or Krupac.
In winter, there are two buses to Bjelašnica, from where it is not far to Igma.
Climate
Igman holds the temperature record for this region – -43 degrees. Otherwise, the climate is similar to that of Bjelašnica.
Trails
Several gentle short trails for beginners. One long red-blue marked trail 1100 meters long. A 200-meter difficult trail branches off from it.
