Arosa ski resort is located at an altitude of 1800 meters above sea level in the canton of Graubünden. Perhaps the first famous person who was seriously interested in alpine skiing was the writer Arthur Conan Doyle. In March 1894, he and the Branger brothers made a ski pass from Davos to Arosa, which he described in his essay “An Alpin Pass on skis”. The resort is located at an altitude of about 1800 m above sea level, in the heart of the canton of Graubünden, in the wind-protected Schanfig Valley.

Slopes and lifts

60 km of slopes of varying difficulty at an altitude of 1800 to 2650 m. The large number of blue slopes (more than 50%) makes the slopes around Arosa attractive for beginners and lovers of calm skiing. The combined Arosa – Lenzerheide ski area was opened in 2013. The two resorts connected their slopes with a lift, making 250 km of slopes available to holidaymakers. The new region has become the second longest ski area in the canton of Graubünden (after the Flims-Laaks-Falera region, which offers 235 km of total slopes). Other regions of Graubünden, in particular, St. Moritz and Davos, also boast large ski areas (350 km – in St. Moritz, 310 km – in Davos), but in these resorts the slopes are not fully connected by lifts, to move between areas you have to use a bus or train. Beginners often learn to ski at the Tschuggen peaks, where the easy runs are concentrated. Blue runs are also located along the Plattenhorn lift.
