The ski resort of Encamp is nestled on the Valira River, surrounded by mountains and plains. This small town is the second largest parish in Andorra. Not far from it, at a distance of 3 kilometers, is El Cortez – a picturesque village that is inhabited only when the tobacco is harvested and processed.

The Encamp resort has an excellent infrastructure, as well as everything you need for a great vacation. The resort is designed specifically for professional skiers, lovers of active recreation and diversifying their vacation.

The climate is mild. All this is due to the direct influence of the Mediterranean Sea. The weather is always sunny and pleasant for relaxation, optimal for skiing, the daily presence of snow cover.
There are no severe frosts here. Basically, the air temperature reaches 0 and -3 degrees at night, during the day from +5 to 9 degrees. In summer from 8 to 15 degrees. Fog and snowstorms occur here no more than five times a year.

Trails and lifts at the resort
This resort, as well as the entire area, has one ski pass and one lift system. This makes this area the largest in all of Europe.
A total of 195 km of trails with 950 m of elevation gain, about 70 lift systems, several areas for performing tricks, a couple of rental points, specialized schools for teaching skiing, and more.

The ski slopes of Encamp start at an altitude of 2640 meters. The resort’s slopes are divided into 56 blue slopes, 32 red slopes, and 22 black slopes. There are no green slopes in Encamp, so those who want to learn to ski will have to go to neighboring Andorra la Vella. There are a lot of lifts in the resort – more than sixty. They can carry about 100,000 skiers per hour, so Encamp has no problems in this regard.

Children from 6 years old tickets: half-day – from 21 to 26 euros, day – from 32 to 35 euros, week – from 174 to 178 euros.
Children under six years old – free.
Pensioners over 70 years old – free.
Insurance: 5 euros per day.
The trainer takes about 35-45 euros for one hour of individual lessons.
Ski rental costs 25 euros per day.
Other equipment can also be rented for 10 to 50 euros.



Infrastructure and entertainment
In the town of Encamp, the main entertainment can be called skiing on various winter equipment, such as skiing or snowboarding. Nearby there are trails for both beginners and professionals. The most exciting adventure using sports equipment can be a ski trip from Encamp to Pas de la Casa. But be careful, keep an eye on the time – otherwise, having lost this feeling, you will have to get to your place of stay much longer: the fast lifts close at 17:00, after that you will have to take a bus.


Another unusual means of transport in Encamp is a special mini-train that delivers tourists to Grandvalira – one of the ski and snowboarding areas. But anyone can ride it, so you should take advantage of this fact and get another portion of positive emotions.
Evening leisure shines as brightly as the midday snow on the mountain peak of Encamp – you will find a variety of clubs, bars and discos in this cheerful town. And for fans of sports and a healthy lifestyle, a whole sports and entertainment complex called Encamp Multisports Centre has been specially built here. There you will find two tennis and squash courts, an indoor swimming pool, basketball, volleyball and football fields, as well as much more.
In the New Year and during the opening and closing of the ski season, various city fairs, holidays and grandiose light and other shows are organized here. In winter, the city is decorated with lights and ribbons, various competitions and festivities are held.

In the city, tourists can visit several interesting sights. For example, the magnificent church of Eglesia San Roma de les Bons, the automobile museum, the ethnographic museum Casa Cristo. There is another ancient church, built in the Romanesque style back in the 12th century with an original bell and a beautiful chapel.

Probably the main attraction of Encamp is Lake Englogasters. Fantastically beautiful landscapes can be seen here, and in addition, there is an interesting legend associated with this lake. They say that it was formed from a sudden water wave sent by divine forces as punishment for an impious woman who refused to give a piece of bread to a hungry pilgrim. In addition, they say that all the stars that fall into Lake Englogaster remain there forever in captivity.

Encamp has one of the most visited and favorite places of all tourists – the National Automobile Museum, which houses many rare cars throughout the automotive industry and a large number of old (the oldest is 120 years old) motorcycles, bicycles and other types of transport.

Also in the city you can visit one of the largest sports complexes “Multiaporta Center”, the Gothic ancient church of Iglesia, from where many tourist routes begin.
A few years ago, a new lift was opened on the territory of the complex – the Funicamp cable car. This is an unusual cable car that stretches for more than 6 kilometers. It has 32 cabins, each of which can accommodate 24 people. The speed of the cable car is approximately 7 m / s. Thanks to these advantages, travelers can reach the top of Collada D’Enradort in a few minutes. There are also other lifts in the resort that connect the top of Collada D’Enradort with the slopes of Grau Roig.

Where is Encamp and how to get there
Geographically, Encamp is located right in the center of Andorra, a few minutes’ drive from the capital, Andorra la Vella. This ski resort combines modern architecture with ancient Romanesque buildings. And, although it is located so close to the capital, it is calm and quiet here, and the few restaurants that operate here do not disturb this peaceful life of the parish.
To get to this wonderful town, you will need to take a bus from Barcelona or Toulouse. You can also rent a car to drive yourself along the flat, and therefore beautiful, roads on the way to the resort.

From Andorra la Vella you can get here by bus, which runs here every couple of hours. To be more precise, the bus immediately arrives at Pas De La Casa. But on the way it stops at all resorts, including Encamp.
According to the order, Encamp goes first, so you can get there in literally 15 minutes of leisurely driving. During the ski season, the trip can drag on for an indefinite amount of time. Therefore, if you are going on a weekend or during the hot season for all skiers, choose another mode of transport.
For example, you can get to the resort by taxi. Taxis are booked in advance online. You can also take your personal car from the local car park.
