Falacro Ski Resort is located in East Macedonia and Thrace (Greece). There are 20 km of slopes for skiing and snowboarding. There are also 9 lifts to transport guests. The winter sports area is located between altitudes of 1650 and 2232 m.

Falacro Ski Resort was founded in 1980 on the initiative of the Dramatic Mountaineering Association in order to meet the basic recreational and sports needs of the surrounding area. However, over the years the ski resort has gained momentum and a fanatical audience, which has made it one of the most important ski resorts in Greece and the main tourist attraction of the Thrace region.

The resort has 21 slopes of varying difficulty with a total length of 20 km and lengths from 230 to 1500 meters. There are also large slopes, over 2500 m long, with a height difference of 1615 to 2232 m on the northern slopes, which are also suitable for sports activities. Natural snow lies on the northern, north-western and north-eastern slopes, which are above 2000 m above sea level and offer a wonderful variety of skiing. An important comparative advantage of Falakro is the long period of snow cover due to its geographical location and high altitude, as the base of the ski resort is located at an altitude of 1720 m, and the slopes are at an altitude of 2232 m.

The resort has ski rental and sales points for ski equipment. There are ski schools in the resort. There is no snow park / amusement park.

Most of the hotels and resorts are located in the satellite town of Drama.

Drama is a satellite town of the resort

Another picturesque region of Macedonia is Drama, headed by the capital city of the same name. Drama will be an ideal choice for lovers of alternative tourism – the wild nature of the region will certainly not leave you indifferent!

Drama is surrounded on all sides by mountain ranges: Rhodopes, Pangeos, Lekanis, etc., but its main area is made up of plains. The main occupation of local residents is related to agriculture, tobacco and cotton cultivation, as well as wine production – a local pride that has recently gained recognition throughout Greece.

The center of entertainment and tourist infrastructure is, of course, the capital of the region – the city of Drama. Here you will find entertainment centers, travel agencies, the best hotels and various taverns and cafes. Here, in Drama, most of the shops, cinemas and museums of the region are concentrated.

As for tourism, religious, sports and speleological (cave) tourism are most common in Drama. And, of course, many tourists come here to forget about the hustle and bustle of big cities for a while and simply admire the beautiful nature. For example, the main attractions of the region are the Falacros ski center, located 46 km from the capital, the Engiti cave, which is about 30 thousand years old, the picturesque Petrus gorge near the village of Pyrgon and the healing springs of Ayia Varvara. In addition, the region is full of reserves, coniferous forests and parks (for example, the Reptile Park in the village of Agora). Also in Drama you will find the beautiful Archaeological Museum, the ancient sanctuary of Dionysus and Fort Lisse in the village of Ohiros, which today operates as a museum.

It is worth noting that although Drama is not a typical tourist destination in Greece, the region nevertheless has all possible amenities and infrastructures: wherever you go, Greek friendliness and hospitality will always be with you!

Among the traditional products of Drama, pay attention to the local wines, cheeses and cotton products. Also, do not miss the opportunity to enjoy traditional Greek cuisine in local taverns – know that all vegetables and fruits here are always of the highest quality.

You can get to Drama by car or bus from Athens and Thessaloniki, by train or by plane (Chrysoupolis domestic airport is 68 km from Drama).
