About the resort

Gstaad resort gained wide popularity thanks to the construction of the railway connecting Gstaad and Château d’Eau in 1904. The cream of society began to gather here in 1913, when the first luxurious hotel, the Gstaad Palace hotel, was built.

Shopping

There is a place in Gstaad where any woman, even a world-famous movie star or heiress of an ancient aristocratic family, will feel extremely happy. This is the “Promenade”, the famous fashion street, where you can buy clothes and accessories from such famous houses as Dolce & Gabbana, Hermes, Ungaro, Gucci, Missoni, Moschino and Bazar Bach’s. A sophisticated addition to designer clothes will be jewelry from Adler, Benot de Gorski and Eva V., Carmer, Chopard, De Grisogono, Graff and watches from Rolex, Piaget and Patek Philippe, which can also be purchased at the Promenade.

Skiing

Still, the main entertainment in Gstaad was and remains skiing. In the Alps, where Gstaad is located, there is the Diablare mountain glacier and snow-capped peaks, the height of which reaches three thousand meters. You can ski at an altitude of 1000 to 2200 meters. Some mountain slopes in the towns of Wallig, Gschelihorn, Hummfluh and Stalden can only be reached by helicopter. Only very experienced skiers can descend these slopes. Everyone else can test their skills on easy and medium-difficulty ski runs.

Above Gstaad and its surroundings, easy runs generally prevail, ideal for leisurely skiing with children and pleasing to not very strong skiers. Directly above the resort there are two skiing areas – Vispile and Eggli, both with low slopes (up to 2000 m). At the beginning and end of the season they usually have artificial snow. In these sectors there are cozy blue and red runs. From the summit of La Wiedemanette above the village of Rougemont, the longest in the region, a red 10-kilometer run, begins. Its beginning can also be reached from Eggli.

It is worth making a day trip to Château-d’Eau, a cozy village where the famous hot air balloon festival is held in January. Above Château-d’Eau there are 40 km of slopes, mostly blue and red, a great place for a relaxed skiing.

For strong skiers in Gstaad, there are not so many opportunities. The Tiger Run in the Wasserngrat area and various trails leading from Glacier 3000 are interesting. The most interesting off-piste trails are also located in the glacier area (it is recommended to hire a guide), and heli-ski programs are also held there. In the height of the season, you can find exciting backcountry and ski tour routes throughout the region. Gstaad is not bad for snowboarding, although it is not considered a snowboarding resort. Four snow parks have been built in different sectors of the ski area: Monsterpark on the glacier (the largest and most interesting), Vanillenoir in Zaanersloch, Rinderberge and La Braye parks.

In total, there are about 250 kilometers of excellent ski slopes located in six sectors near Gstaad. You can ski on the Diablare glacier even in summer. Those who have never skied in their life can learn to ski on the flat slopes, the length of which is 100 km, or on the ski slope for beginners, located in the town of Vispile.

The resort has a ski school for children and a ski kindergarten for the youngest. In Gstaad you can go sledding, snowboarding and curling.

You can get to the ski slopes by bus, train or cable car. There are 69 cable cars at your disposal. Buses run from Gstaad to the nearby villages of Rugemont, Sannenmoser and Schonried, which also have great skiing areas.

HUUS Gstaad 4-star hotel

Hotel Huus Gstaad is located in the Bernese Alps. A sauna, solarium, steam bath and indoor pool are available. Massages are available on request. WiFi is available throughout the property.

The Huus Gstaad has 2 restaurants and a bar. Swiss evenings such as raclette and fondue are held in the adjacent chalet. Half-board includes a 3-course dinner without drinks.

Children can have fun in the children’s spa and on the playground in the garden. Facilities include a games room and billiards.

The Schönried Cable Car is 2.5 km away. An 18-hole golf course is 6 km away. Saanen Train Station is 1.5 km away. A free shuttle service to/from the ski slopes and train station is provided.

Saanen is a great choice if you are interested in hiking, nature and peace.

Park Gstaad 5-star hotel

The Park Hotel Gstaad, located in the Swiss Alps, opened in 1910 year. The hotel exudes understated luxury and the interior design is inspired by the surrounding landscape. It offers 4 restaurants, a 1,000 m² spa area and elegant rooms and suites with Bang & Olufsen TVs and entertainment systems.

The Park Hotel Gstaad Spa features 10 treatment rooms and an indoor saltwater pool, and an outdoor heated pool in the summer months. There is also a hot tub, saunas, a Turkish bath, hydrotherapy and balneotherapy baths, relaxation areas and a hair salon. The fitness centre offers personal training. Other facilities include a modern indoor golf club and a PGA Tour golf simulator for indoor golfing.

Le Grand Bellevue 5-star hotel

The luxurious 5-star superior Le Grand Bellevue is located in a park in the centre of Gstaad. It features the stylish Lonard restaurant, awarded 1 Michelin star and 14 Gault Millau points. Guests can relax in the exclusive wellness centre or watch films in the hotel’s private cinema.

Guests can enjoy traditional local cuisine at Le Petit Chalet, a charming Swiss mountain lodge surrounded by gardens. The sushi bar serves fresh, handmade sushi, and the lounge offers afternoon tea and pastries.

The bar, with its stylish Art Deco interior, offers a wide range of cocktails and other drinks, and in the evenings there is live piano music. The Lonard’s Cellar has over 9,000 bottles of wine from all over the world.

EMITAGE Wellness- & Spa-Hotel 5-star hotel

The Ermitage Wellness Hotel & Spa is located in the ski area Schönried-Gstaad. It is located on a sunny terrace above Gstaad, in the middle of a green park. It offers panoramic views of the mountains and the Saanenland region.

The large spa area includes a tepidarium, a steam bath and several different saunas. Guests can enjoy indoor and outdoor pools and an outdoor hot tub.

All rooms at the Wellness Ermitage Spa Hotel open to a balcony with scenic views of the surroundings. Amenities include a minibar and a seating area.

The restaurant serves fine Swiss cuisine. Guests can enjoy half-board, which includes breakfast, lunch, afternoon coffee and pastries, and a 5-course dinner.

The hotel is 150 metres from the Rellerli Ski Lift. Guided hiking and mountain bike tours can be organised on request. The distance to the Gstaad-Saanenland Golf Course is 10 km.

Schönried is a great choice if you are interested in family holidays, swimming pools and nature walks.

Restaurants in Gstaad

Gstaad is one of the best places for gourmets in the Alps, with over 100 restaurants in and around the resort. Many of them are recognized by gastronomic guides, and Gault Millau awarded local restaurants a total of 240 points. The best haute cuisine establishment is considered to be Chesery in Gstaad (18 points). The restaurant by Dalsass in the village of Grund bei Gstaad is not inferior to it in sophistication and creativity. Взимку околиці Гштааду настільки мальовничі, що за них хочеться просто гуляти, залишивши вдома лижі та інший інвентар. Інфраструктура має: в регіоні розчищені 160 км доріжок для прогулянок, багато з них ідеально підходять для занять з дітьми. У Гшааді є каток з штучним льодом, відкриті катки працюють в Шенриді і Зааненмезері. У розпал сезону у районі Вішпіле можна пограти в гольф на снігу. Польоти над курортом в гарну погоду організовує Grand Hotel Park. Більш старшим дітям будуть цікаві екскурсії в музей мінералів в Ружмоне, кунтс-галерея і фермерський музей у гірському ресторані Sanetsch. Як дістатися

Дістатися до Гштаада можна прямо з аеропортів Женеви і Цюріха, звідки в Gstaad ходять поїзди. Женева розташована в 150 км від Гштаада, а час у дорозі складає дві з половиною години. Цюріх знаходиться в 220 км від Гштаада, дорога з Цюріха займе близько 3,5 годин.
