The island of Brač is a cozy place in the center of the Adriatic Sea, which has everything you need for a vacation: famous resorts, ancient cities with a rich history, as well as friendly locals. If photos of the Croatian island of Brač have long captivated your eye, then it’s time to go on a virtual trip to this interesting place!

Brac is a Croatian island located in the depths of the Adriatic Sea. Its area is 394.57 km², and its length is 40 km. It is not only one of the most picturesque islands of the Adriatic, but also the third largest after Krk and Cres. The permanent population of the island is about 15,000 people, and in the summer, with the arrival of tourists, this figure doubles.
There are a number of cities on the island, the largest of which are Supetar (in the northern part), Pucisce (in the northeast) and Bol (in the south).
Accommodation and prices
Brac in Croatia is a popular tourist destination in the summer, so hotel rooms should be booked at least in spring, and even better – in winter.
The most budget option for accommodation for two in a 3-star hotel is 50 euros (in high season).
The cost of accommodation in apartments starts from €40.
The average price of a night’s stay in a 3-4 * hotel is €150-190. This price already includes breakfast and dinner, as well as the opportunity to visit the beach at the hotel for free.
Sights and entertainment
Vidova Gora
Vidova Gora is the highest point in the Adriatic. Its height is 778 meters above sea level. Today it is an observation deck from which neighboring Croatian cities and islands, vineyards and rivers are visible as if in the palm of your hand.

By the way, life on the mountain is still in full swing: there are satellite dishes and a hotel. And the ruins of the old church of the 13th-14th centuries still attract tourists here.
Blac (Blaca)
Blac is one of the most interesting sights not only of the island, but also of all of Croatia. This is an ancient monastery carved into the rock. The first mention of it dates back to the 16th century – at that time monks lived here, engaged in mathematics, astronomy and writing books. This continued until 1963. After the death of the last monk, the monastery turned into a museum, and today they conduct excursions there.

However, going to the ancient monastery is worth it not only to learn about the life of the monks, but also to enjoy the beauty of the building and the garden adjacent to it. By the way, getting to the monastery is not as easy as it might seem at first: the road from the foot to the building itself will take about an hour. Therefore, experienced travelers advise wearing comfortable clothes and shoes with hard soles.
Visit to winemakers Wine Tasting Brac & Olive Oil Brac and Senjkovic Winery

On island Brac there are many picturesque vineyards and olive groves, which means there are many wineries that conduct excursions for tourists. One of the most famous is Wine Tasting Brac & Olive Oil Brac. This is a family winery with a small vineyard and good-natured owners.
Upon arrival, tourists are immediately invited to the table and offered to taste different varieties of wine. After, guests are treated to an appetizer, main course and dessert. During the meal, the hosts often talk about both the history of the winery and the past of Croatia as a whole.
The second most popular winery on the island of Brac is Senjkovic Winery. The owners here are also hospitable and friendly.

First, a sightseeing tour is conducted specifically for tourists: they show the vineyards, tell interesting facts about winemaking and the island as a whole. Then the wine tasting begins: the owners set a rich table with traditional Croatian dishes and offer to evaluate their wine.
Visiting winemakers is very popular with tourists, because such tours help not only to learn the secrets of winemaking, but also to better understand the lives of ordinary Croatians.
Supetar cemetery
Supetar is the largest town on the island of Brac, and therefore the largest cemetery here. It is located right on the coast, but, as tourists note, it is a very beautiful and not at all sad place. There are always many lamps burning here, well-groomed flower beds with bright flowers all around, and the graves themselves are made of white stone.

The main decoration of the cemetery is a snow-white mausoleum – its unusual shape immediately attracts attention. It should be said that all the graves here are very elegant: many are surrounded by sculptures of angels and saints.
Oddly enough, the Supertar cemetery is visited by more than 10,000 tourists every year, and many of them consider it the main attraction of the island.
Brac Island Beaches
Croatia is famous for its large and clean beaches, which can be found in almost any part of the country. There are also quite a few on the island of Brac.
Puciska – Pučišća

Puciska beach is traditional for Croatia – a white stone embankment and convenient ladders for safe descent into the water. There are also the usual steps into the sea – pebble. Thanks to the locals, the water in Puciska is very clean.
Infrastructure: There are showers on the beach, and there are many cafes and restaurants on the promenade. Umbrellas and sun loungers can be rented nearby.
Povlo – Povlja

Another small town on the island of Brac is Povlja. Here, compared to Pučiška, the sea is calmer, with a large number of beautiful and cozy bays. The water here is very warm and clean, and there are fewer tourists than in other Croatian resorts. The entrance to the sea is pebble.
