It wasn’t easy to find really nice accommodations in Sardinia. Many were either fully booked, very expensive, or simply not appealing enough. Before our big Sardinia tour (mid- to late May), we spent countless hours researching and painstakingly clicked through almost every place on the island to find one or two oasis.

During our trip, we received numerous messages and questions about our booked accommodations on Instagram. Now we’re back and can finally share our accommodation list with you. Here you’ll find not only the accommodations we stayed in, but also those that were on our shortlist.

Perhaps you can use one or two of these accommodation tips for your own trip. If you’re looking for something a little more chic, check out this: 17 great beach hotels in Sardinia. We wish you lots of fun planning your trip and a wonderful time there. Sardinia is simply a DREAM!

Olbia – Start of our trip

Our first nice accommodation was in Olbia, as this is where our tour began. The city in the northeast of the island is probably the starting and ending point of many trips, which is why it’s definitely worth spending a night or two here. We spent two nights in a charming guesthouse to explore a few areas south and north of Olbia.

In our opinion, you don’t need to plan much time for Olbia itself (maybe 2 hours), but there are many beautiful places around it, such as the enchanting Costa Smeralda or south of the city around Porto Taverna, San Teodoro, and Budoni.

The small guesthouse Casa Lucia* is only a 10-minute walk from the city center and, despite the main road, is located in a quiet area. The very friendly owners offer a total of 6 different rooms (double, triple, and quadruple).

Our double room had a large wardrobe, a small table with a chair and a TV, excellent Wi-Fi, towels, a refrigerator, a large, comfortable bed, and a modern and spacious bathroom with a shower and toiletries. There is no common room or anything similar at Casa Lucia, but there is a small terrace with seating.

Santa Teresa Gallura – Our little paradise

After exploring the Costa Smeralda, we moved into our beautiful room in Santa Teresa Gallura in the north of Sardinia. The B&B Mimma del Mar* (Mimma, by the way, is the name of the owner’s cat) was one of the most beautiful accommodations on our Sardinia tour. Barbara and her husband Andrea have truly created a wonderful paradise here, with a lush garden and charming accommodations.

In every corner, you can feel the attention to detail that went into everything. Our room had a beautiful bathroom with a shower, a large wardrobe, a comfortable double bed, a TV and excellent Wi-Fi, towels, bathrobes, toiletries, a coffee machine, a refrigerator, and more.

The small but delicious breakfast was right there in our refrigerator and in the wall cupboard. There were drinks, yogurt, fruit, cereal, tea, coffee, milk, pastries, toast, jam, Nutella, and honey. We also had a great little courtyard with seating and a terrace with a bit of a sea view.

Porto Torres – A good starting point for the north

The journey continued through the north and led us to Porto Torres. This place was to be the next starting point for our tours in the surrounding area. We booked a room in advance at the very nice B&B La Finestra Sul Porto*, which we also don’t regret. The house and hallway may look unassuming from the outside, but the three rooms are all very modern and equipped with everything you need.

Our double room had a large and very comfortable bed, a wardrobe, a table and chair, a TV, and Wi-Fi, as well as two small bedside tables. The modern bathroom was equipped with a shower, toilet, and bidet. The apartment, which has been converted into a B&B, also has a small common room where breakfast is served in the morning. There was yogurt, cereal, fruit, pastries, jam, juices, coffee, and tea. Here, too, the self-service principle applied.

We were able to park our car directly on the street for free. Not far from the apartment is a LIDL supermarket, the port of Porto Torres, and numerous restaurants. The town itself isn’t particularly exciting in our opinion, but it’s well located for the beautiful Stintino peninsula, Castelsardo, Sassari, Alghero, and the like.

The beaches in the surrounding area are also really beautiful (despite the large industrial areas surrounding it). The owner even lent us a parasol for the beach and surprised us in the evening with some Sardinian delicacies.

Alghero – A short stopover

After exploring the north and slowly heading towards the west coast, we spent another night in Alghero. For this one night, we had a very simple room at the B&B Giramondo Sardegna Affittacamere*, which is about 15 minutes from the city center. The accommodation is located in a very quiet area, and you can park your car right in front of the building.

The host, Germano, is super nice and helpful; communication with him was easy. There are three rooms in this B&B, all of which are very simply furnished. Our room had a large double bed (very comfortable), fast Wi-Fi, an open wardrobe, a table, and a chair.

Since we were only passing through, this was perfectly sufficient for us. The kitchen had a few small items for breakfast, such as cornflakes, pastries, coffee, tea, jam, fruit, and more. We shared the separate bathroom with two other guests.

Unfortunately, the walls are very thin and the doors creak a lot. It was quite difficult to leave the room quietly. It was fine for one night, but we wouldn’t have stayed there a second night because of this. Nevertheless, we had a good time in Alghero and can recommend the snack bar La Bajada, among others. The owner is super friendly, and the pasta was delicious, too.

Oristano – The gateway to the Sinis Peninsula

After driving along the beautiful panoramic road between Alghero and Bosa, we reached the city of Oristano (in western Sardinia), where we checked into our room at the beautiful and stylish Sardinianworld – Cocco e Dessi Home*. We were really looking forward to this accommodation because it had such good reviews online.

The accommodation is located right in the city center and is easy to find. Thanks to the good description, self-check-in also went smoothly. We parked the car right in front of the door (for a fee). Our room was a nice size and very stylishly furnished. We enjoyed the huge double bed, the cute little balcony, the separate large bathroom with shower, and the many lovely details.

The room also had a large wardrobe, two comfortable armchairs, small tables, a small refrigerator, a TV, and Wi-Fi. Towels were waiting for us in the bathroom, as well as some toiletries. The “apartment” has four different rooms, each individually furnished and decorated.

The shared kitchen includes a table with chairs, a large refrigerator, a microwave, a stovetop, and a sink. It would be perfect for cooking, but unfortunately, there were hardly any dishes, pots, pans, or other utensils.

Oristano also has many restaurants and cafés. We highly recommend this accommodation! Oristano is the perfect starting point for exploring the enchanting Sinis Peninsula. Also recommended is the Pizzeria Civico 35 in the city center.

Carbonia – The little oasis in the middle of nowhere

Our Sardinia tour now continued towards South Sardinia. We also wanted to stay here for two nights to explore the surrounding area. After extensive research, we found the super charming A Casa Di Angela B&B* online. The online photos and the excellent reviews were crucial for our booking.

The accommodation is located on the outskirts of the small, yet rather unspectacular town of Carbonia. The last few meters to Angela’s house led along a small gravel road, which initially unsettled us. But finally, we found the inconspicuous entrance door to the property. Angela rents out three different rooms in her large house.

The highlight here is definitely the beautifully landscaped garden with pool, loungers, and terrace. You don’t notice anything else going on around you; you live there quite isolated in a little paradise. In the morning, Angela lovingly prepares a small, delicious breakfast for her guests and takes great care of everyone’s well-being.

Our room had a large, comfortable double bed, a chest of drawers, super-fast Wi-Fi, a clothes rack, a small refrigerator, and a large bathroom with a shower and a view outside. We particularly liked the lemon tree in front of our window with its bright yellow lemons, which we were served as lemon juice in the morning.

San Vito – Family B&B in a small village

Am Reached day 11 of our trip We explored the south and southeast of the island. We stayed in the small village of San Vito at the B&B Sa Specula*. From San Vito, we were able to easily explore Villasimius and the Costa Rei, but could also have continued up the east coast to the Gulf of Orosei.

The Bed & Breakfast offers two rooms with a double bed, wardrobe, desk, TV, fast Wi-Fi, and a bathroom with a shower, towels, and toiletries. The rooms are quite simple and plainly furnished, yet very clean and adequate. The upper floor of their house is the B&B with a terrace, breakfast room, and a staircase leading up to a wonderful view of the village.

Breakfast in the morning was always served to us with great care. There was a variety of Sardinian delicacies, coffee, fresh fruit, tea, juices, pastries, and much more. The hostess also caters to her guests’ wishes. It was truly lovely to have breakfast on the terrace in the morning. The owner is truly hospitable and helpful, even though she unfortunately speaks very little English.

She has two cute cats and 3 or 4 turtles that roam the small green areas. There are several excellent pizzerias in the town itself where you can enjoy delicious food in the evening. Highly recommended is the pizzeria La Capricciosa da Gigi, which is just a 5-minute walk from the accommodation.

Santa Maria Navaresse – A perfect end to the trip

We spent the last two nights (days 13 to 15) in the charming little town of Santa Maria Navaresse on the east coast of the island. This was the perfect starting point for our tours in the surrounding area. This place is especially perfect if you want to explore the coast of the Gulf of Orosei by boat.

We stayed at the beautiful B&B Antico Telaio*. The well-kept house made a good impression even from the outside. A staircase led up to the entrance of the B&B. Four different rooms are available, each with its own unique decor.

We stayed in room 4 and were really looking forward to our two nights. Our room had a large, comfortable double bed, a small table and chair, a TV, a wardrobe, an armchair, and a balcony with seating and a partial sea view. The furnishings seemed very high-quality and modern to us.

The spacious bathroom with a shower, bathtub, towels, and toiletries was particularly nice. Only the Wi-Fi wasn’t available in our room at the very back, which we found a bit of a shame. But that probably doesn’t bother everyone.

In the morning, there was a super delicious breakfast at another B&B. We only had to walk down the street and it arrived in just a few minutes. The owners always prepared and served everything with great care. There was yogurt, fruit, egg dishes, various breads, spreads, pastries, cakes, sandwiches, as well as coffee, tea, and juices.
