Island of Hvar

The island of Hvar – the sunniest and warmest island in Croatia – is located in the southern part of the Adriatic coast of Croatia, about 60 km from the airport of the mainland city of Split. The number of sunny days in a year on the island of Hvar reaches a record for the country – 349, and the bathing season begins in May and ends only in October. The length of the Adriatic coast of the Hvar coastline is 250 km. Pebble, shallow pebble and sandy beaches predominate, and all of them are certainly very beautiful and comfortable for relaxation. The island of Hvar became popular thanks to the beautiful nature that the Republic of Croatia is so generously endowed with , ancient cities and excellent tourist infrastructure.

Island of Hvar

The most popular places on the island of Hvar: the city of Hvar itself – the capital and the largest settlement of the island, the Old Town , as well as the cities of Suchurai , Vrboska, Eelsa, Milna, Zavala, Ivan Dolac.

The city of Hvar is a recognized center of tourism on the island of Hvar. Ferries arrive here from the city of Split and nearby Croatian islands, there is a large number of medieval architectural ensembles (St. Stephen’s Cathedral in the style of the Dalmatian Renaissance, various fortresses, monasteries) and a real resort life is boiling here throughout the season. A beach holiday in the city of Hvar is represented by the Pakleni archipelago of islands and rocks (Paklin Islands) , which can be reached in 5-15 minutes by ferry. There are plenty of places for swimming in the archipelago – these are sandy bays surrounded by pine forests, rocky cliffs with artificial surfaces and, of course, specially equipped nudist beaches.

According to historians, the old town of the island of Hvar is the oldest town in Europe. Known since ancient times as the Greek settlement of Pharos , the Old Town of Hvar is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today, the Old Town of Hvar is a unique, charming town with old villas, mini-hotels, taverns and a large number of attractions. During the summer season, various cultural and sports events are held within the walls of the Old Town of Hvar – concerts, festivals, contests, and competitions. The sea in this part of the island is always calm, and the beaches are small sand and pebble areas on the outskirts of the city.

Jeelsa is the most popular and very beautiful resort center of the northern part of the island of Hvar. There is everything here for an excellent beach holiday: good beaches (both rocky and pebbly), well-developed leisure infrastructure, as well as a variety of hotels for every taste and budget. Eelsa is also a convenient starting point for trips to the island of Hvar itself, to the neighboring island of Brac and to the resorts of the Makarska Riviera in central Dalmatia .

Vrbska is a tiny, typical Croatian town located in a narrow but deep bay a few kilometers east of Eels. Once Vrbska lived only by fishing, which to some extent can be traced in the modern life of the townspeople, but with the influx of tourists to Croatia, it quickly turned into a cozy, elegant resort for connoisseurs of beauty and peace. There are only two beach sections in Vrbsk – the Solina peninsula with small pebble bays and rocky shores and the Maslinitsa bay .

Island of Hvar

Suchurai is a village in the extreme east of the island of Hvar, on the shore of a wonderful old harbor. One of the most beautiful ancient architecture, numerous secluded bays and romantic beaches, the beauty of nature – all this attracts tourists to this cozy place. The distance from the village of Suchurai to mainland Croatia is only 5 km.

Island of Hvar

Milna is a small resort village in the south of the island of Hvar, about 6 km from the city of Hvar, which is suitable for a quiet, leisurely vacation away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The main attraction of the resort is a long pebble beach, hidden from the winds in a picturesque bay.

Ivan Dolac and Zavalu are two typically Croatian villages in the southern part of the island of Hvar, which differ from other resorts in their leisurely pace, secluded beaches and private accommodation.
