BEST TIME TO TRAVEL TO MAURITIUS

The best time to travel to Mauritius depends on individual preferences. The high season in Mauritius is from December to March, when the weather is hot and humid (rainy season). The low season, from May to November, is somewhat cooler and drier, with pleasant temperatures and fewer tourists. Another factor in choosing the right time to travel is the risk of tropical storms, which can occur from November to April.

HEALTH & VACCINATIONS

Your health is paramount – no matter where you are. You should therefore be well informed before your trip so that you don’t experience any unpleasant surprises in the country of your dreams. A conversation with a tropical medicine specialist or at least your family doctor is certainly helpful. Be sure to check your “standard vaccinations,” such as tetanus, polio, or measles (RKI vaccination calendar). Hepatitis B, typhoid, rabies, and meningococcus are also recommended for long-term stays in Mauritius.

SAFETY ON THE ISLAND

Mauritius is considered a very safe travel destination. The political situation is stable, education and healthcare are free, and the illiteracy rate is among the lowest in the world. The unemployment rate is also comparatively low. Thanks to a stable economy, high standards of living, freedom of the press, and low crime rates, Mauritius is one of the richest countries in Africa and a popular travel destination. However, as everywhere, you should exercise caution and remain alert.
