Luxurious Comfort at Avianca’s Diamond Lounge

For this segment of my adventure traveling from Val Seny ski resort to Paris, I found myself at the Avianca Diamond Lounge at Bogota’s El Dorado International Airport. I had just landed from Miami, my layover stretching about three hours, destined to climb aboard Avianca’s 787 business class en route to Paris.

I must admit, while my expectations were modest, the Avianca Diamond Lounge turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Sure, it’s not as if I was blown away, but the lounge’s natural light, ample space, and a decent array of food and drinks certainly made the experience enjoyable.

Avianca Diamond Lounge Location

Nestled in the heart of the terminal, the Avianca Lounge Bogota finds its place amidst a bustle of shops. Once you’re past security or immigration, venture straight towards gates B1-8. Sandwiched between Chanel and Hudson, the lounge entrance might seem elusive, so keep your eyes peeled.

After heading upstairs via elevator or staircase, you’re greeted with some quirky “art” mapping out the airline’s destinations—a rather endearing touch.

Lounge Hours

Open daily from a bright and early 3:30 AM until the final flight rolls out at midnight, the Avianca Lounge Bogota’s hours adapt ever so slightly according to flight schedules.

Entry Requirements

Avianca plays favorites with its lounges. The Avianca Diamond is tailored for the high-flyers in Star Alliance first and business class. Meanwhile, the Avianca Gold welcomes more guests, from elite status holders to those wielding select Amex and Capital One cards, or those willing to purchase entry outright.

Seating and Layout

The lounge, airy and contemporary, opens into the terminal, which does mean some noise creeps in. As you step in, rows of comfortable-but-not-spectacular chairs guide the way.

Beyond these, there’s a section housing coffee, tea, and several dining tables. Further still, you’ll find chairs by the windows where you can indulge in apron views—aviation enthusiasts, this is your stage.

The lounge’s dining domain comprises mostly tables for two to four. An entertainment room and relaxation area offer an alternate vibe—occupied during my visit, unfortunately sans pictures.

While outlets are sparse, the lounge’s bright and airy demeanor somewhat compensates, and the cross-terminal views offer a glimpse at the busier Avianca Gold Lounge.

Food and Drinks

A highlight, truly, the Avianca Diamond Lounge boasts an impressive selection of eats and sips. The buffet, perfectly timed to flip-flop from breakfast to lunch right as I arrived, featured a bounty of treats.

From cold cuts to croissants, the selection ticked all the boxes, quality included. Soups, breads, hot dishes, and desserts filled the rest. As for drinks, the lounge liberally stocks bottled water, juices, sodas, beers, and a tempting array of wines and liquors.

An espresso machine, tea options, and an array of confectionaries await near the entrance, ready to indulge your taste buds.

Bathrooms & Showers

Bathrooms here play hard to get—down a hidden hall, past the front desk, you’ll find them. Not spotless, but decent, offering three sinks, two stalls, and a couple of urinals. And yes, luggage storage is available if that happens to take your fancy.

Showers, however, require a trek to the Avianca Gold Lounge—not ideal but sometimes necessary for those long-haul adventurers.

Bottom Line

The Avianca Diamond Lounge Bogota? A shining spot in an otherwise unremarkable Avianca journey. With its open, modern ambiance and better-than-expected culinary offerings, it shines a bit brighter.

While the lounge stops just short of extraordinary—missing power outlets and showers—you might just find it the gem of the Avianca experience. What’s your verdict on the Avianca Diamond Lounge Bogota experience?
