One of the coolest ski resorts of Ischgl in Austria has a satellite town called Kappl . Or it is better to say a satellite village, so it is more suitable for Tyrolean villages, even famous ones.
It is the dream of every family and every avid skier or snowboarder to visit the picturesque sunny ski resort of Kappl , overcoming almost 2,700 meters above sea level. Pristine snow everywhere you look
The idyllic mountain village of Kappl , like a pearl, is nestled between the Vervall and Tsamnaun valleys. What you don’t see at first glance: freeriders have a lot of fun here! No wonder this place is considered a real secret council among freeriders from all over the world! After putting on skis and swimming a couple of meters across deep, untouched, fresh snow, feeling the freedom far from the beaten tracks, you will understand that you have come to the right place!
Good to know! In the region, you will be prepared for the descent on an untouched slope at the freeride control point in the Diasban mountain station: from a short lecture on the current avalanche danger of the slopes to the testing of search signal beacons.
A little about the town itself
Kappl is located 20 kilometers closer to Munich than Ischgl, the scenic Alpine road takes just over two hours. Those who have previously visited Ischgl immediately note the sharp contrasts with the more famous resort: it is a quieter place and there are no queues at the lifts. By the way, the mountains here are also high, about 3000 meters, and almost always well covered with snow. True, we usually come at the beginning of January, but they say there are no problems with snow all season.
Alpine skiing
Skiing and leisure in Kappl is a good alternative to Ischgl in terms of family holidays. The places are the same, the slopes belong to the same Silvretta arena, and for those who want to ski in both resorts, a single Silvretta ski pass is suitable. In Kapple, the trails are safer and many of them are adapted to beginners and children, although there are trails not only for beginners, but still more gentle slopes. People are learning to ride around, mainly children, but there are also adults. In short, ski instructors are not idle without work.
For children, a special Sunny Mountain amusement park has been built here: sledding and skiing in the winter, and a zoo and playgrounds in the summer. All around on the slopes there are small cafes with a typical set of Tyrolean cuisine, the prices are very moderate compared to Ischgl. In general, everything: accommodation, lifts, food costs here significantly cheaper than the party places of Kitzbühel or Ischgl. And in general, Kappl is a real paradise for families who love active recreation.
Family Kapple
Charming, individual, diverse and picturesque, Kappl in the heart of the Tyrolean mountain range makes families’ dreams come true – from child-friendly accommodations and restaurants to a skiing area at an altitude of almost 2,700 m. Here, there are 40 km of pistes that offer families everything, what they want. Kapple hotels can accommodate up to 4,700 people. The city has all types of accommodation – from boarding houses and small private rooms to high-class hotels and apartments (OB). Moreover, accommodation here will cost tourists 10-15% cheaper than in the popular nearby Ischgl.
Most of the trails in the region are “blue” and “red”, so skiing here will be interesting mainly for beginners, middle-aged girls and families with children. Among the 18 trails, eight are of medium difficulty, seven are easy, and three are suitable for very experienced skiers. You can go down to the city by only one track – the five-kilometer “red” Talabfahrt or by lift. The Alblitt fan park is equipped for snowboarders. The highest skiing point is at an altitude of 2960 meters. A beautiful view of the panorama of Tyrol opens from here. In addition, Kappl is connected by a single ski pass to the entire Silvretta region. A free ski bus runs between Kapple and nearby Ischgl and Galtür.
The highlight of the program is the Sunny Mountain adventure park, which causes children to have a blast of joy and delight. It is the best place to enjoy winter experiences in a playful way with a guarantee of learning. The park will take care of children from 4 to 10 years old, and teenagers from 11 to 17 years old will experience many interesting adventures at the Youth Club Paznaun. There is a nice restaurant near Sunny Mountain where parents can relax while their children are in the park. Although Kappl is more of a family resort, you can also find a minimum set of après-ski in the form of a couple of discos in the valley. If you suddenly get bored of everything here, noisy Ischgl is only five kilometers away.
Kappl in the summer
Kappl is a place of musical competitions. Next to the magical playground and the cleanest highland warm! musical groups play by the lake on a three-story restaurant. simultaneously. Almost “who will predict who”.
Fed up – went to bathe.
For children, the resort is made in the style of a holiday in the kingdom of Mummy trolls (read the book), children look for secret places, and then receive prizes by answering which places they found. I was pleased with the nest at a height of 30 m. It is absolutely not clear how children climb there, but they somehow get there!!!!
I really liked the 170m-long slope with a plastic artificial surface for rollerblading in Kappl.
And the price of 2 euros for 30 minutes just killed. You can’t even buy a cup of coffee for 2 euros! And climbing on a transporter, not on foot! Very cool.
