Kimpton Frankfurt Set to Open May 2025

Now, I know what you’re thinking: why should I care about a hotel in Frankfurt? Well, hear me out. I’ve got family near Frankfurt, and I usually find myself rolling my eyes at the hotel options available. But there’s good news on the horizon! A new hotel is set to shake things up, offering travelers a fresh choice without sending their wallets into a panic. So, if you’re even remotely curious about the Frankfurt hotel scene, stick around!

Details of the upcoming Kimpton Main Frankfurt

The Kimpton Main Frankfurt is gearing up to open its doors for reservations starting May 1, 2025. Picture this: a sleek, 155-room property nestled within the cutting-edge FOUR development, a buzzing urban space filled with high-rises and lively public squares. This hotel will be proudly standing at Junghofstrasse 7-11, taking up an entire wing across six floors. Who doesn’t love a little exclusivity?

Now, walking into this place is bound to turn some heads with its timeless 1950s-inspired entrance design. It’s got that classic charm that many modern hotels just can’t pull off. And, of course, no Kimpton would be complete without an emphasis on fabulous dining and drinking options. This property is no exception with its lineup:

  • MAY: The lobby bar, perfect for kicking off your evening.
  • LAZULI: A rooftop bar that promises sweeping views of the city.
  • ANNI: An all-day European brasserie that aims to serve up some seriously good eats.

Unlike those dull hotel restaurants you usually find, I expect these spots will draw in diners from outside the hotel, making them serious contenders in the local dining scene.

Now, as far as amenities go, the Kimpton will include a gym for workout enthusiasts, but don’t expect a spa here. However, business travelers can benefit from meeting facilities, which are, let’s be honest, crucial for all those corporate retreats. Room sizes will be on the cozy side, starting at just 22 square meters (or around 237 square feet). And let’s not forget I’ve got some renderings of this place showcasing the rooms — and yes, they definitely look… intriguing!

I’m excited how the Frankfurt hotel market is evolving

Here’s the thing about Frankfurt: it’s a fascinating hotel market. As a major financial hub, you’d think it would attract leisure travelers by the droves. Yet, it seems we’re stuck with a tepid selection of corporate four-star hotels. On the bright side, 2025 is shaping up to be a pretty fantastic year for new hotel openings in the city.

Coming soon is the Kennedy 89 Frankfurt, a property from Hyatt’s Unbound Collection. It’s not exactly luxury, but it sure looks like it’ll outshine the current options. We’re also bracing for the launch of The Florentin Frankfurt, which is set to take over the former Villa Kennedy property. Now, that’s a hotel I’m genuinely excited about; it promises to be spectacular despite not being tied to a major chain. What a shame, though, as I’d love to see it part of something bigger.

If we’re talking about high-end indulgence in Frankfurt, I’d argue the Sofitel Frankfurt takes the cake, but let’s not pretend it’s a grand prize by any means.

So what does the Kimpton opening mean for IHG? Quite a lot, actually. Up until now, they didn’t have many full-service options in the city. The InterContinental Frankfurt, which closed in 2021 for renovations, is still playing the waiting game — and frankly, it feels like they’re taking their sweet time. As of now, I’m clinging to the hope that it will eventually reopen as an InterContinental, but only time will tell.

Bottom line

The Kimpton Frankfurt is set to open in May 2025, and it promises to add an exciting “lifestyle” hotel choice for both leisure and business travelers. With stellar restaurants and a design that seems just a smidge outside the mainstream, I’m stoked to check it out when it finally opens up, not to mention all those new options emerging around the city!

What are your thoughts on the upcoming Kimpton Frankfurt? Personally, I’d love to see how it compares to other new hotels, especially those catering to unique experiences post-COVID. And if you’re looking for a great winter getaway after soaking in all this hotel gossip, don’t forget about the Val Seny ski resort. It might be worth considering after your Frankfurt visit!
