Scheme and description of trails in Val Di Fiemme

The ski region has a total of about a hundred kilometers of marked slopes. Approximately half of them are located in the unified ski area – Latemar. Most of the routes above Pampeago station (1757) and Obereggen have a west and north-west orientation. Only the descents from the Pala di Santa plateau (2486), as well as from the Feudo pass (2200) to Gardone (1650) are directed in the east and southeast direction.

Three-quarters of the routes pass in the forest zone. The maximum height difference is insignificant, no more than 650 m. It is impossible to ski down to Val di Fiemme – only to Pampeago; in Obereggen, the tracks finish just below the village. On the northern slopes of Alpe Chermis, in the “home” skiing area of Cavalese, there are 23.5 km of slopes. As a rule, until the end of March, you can ski down to Fondovalle (860) from a height of 2,250 m; the height difference is almost 1400 m.

There are about 25 km of tracks on Alpe Lucia. Formally, in the Dolomites Superski alliance, this ski area belongs to the Tre Valli region , which means “Three Valleys”, but it is closer to Predazzo than to San Pellegrino Pass (1918), not to mention the resort of Falcade. With good snow, you can ski down from Le Cunet (2380) to Moyen (1200), located between Val Fiemme and Val di Fassa . The tracks on this side of the district have a northern orientation, and on the side of the resort village of Bellamonte (1372) – southern.

To experts

Val di Fiemme is not very popular among experienced skiers: there are only a few really difficult tracks here.

On Latemar, first of all, it is worth paying attention to the cool, steep and, as a rule, rather tough descent along the 4-chair Pala di Santa. There is a high-quality Olympia track on Alpe Chermis that starts at 2,230 m. Its wide upper section is 1,700 meters long; after Costabella (1900) begins a tighter, three-kilometer forest descent with a couple of tricky turns, finishing at Lareza (1280). The most interesting and difficult route of Alpe Lucia, capable of giving vivid skiing experiences, first runs along the northern slope along the 4-chair Piavak. Near the Valbon station (1820) it straightens up, allowing a little breather, but then drops sharply down again, to the finish roll at 1370 m; approximately in the middle – attention! – there is a rather insidious twist. The total length of the “black” descent is almost 3.5 km with a height difference of 830 m.

Prepared skiers

Most of the tracks in the region meet the interests of skiers who prefer calm, comfortable skiing. Another thing is that in principle there are not many marked descents in Val di Fiemmi ; in addition, they are scattered in different regions that are at a considerable distance from each other. Of course, you can go for a ride on Alpe Chermis or Alpe Lucia in the morning, and in the afternoon, using the free bus, spend thirty minutes to an hour on the road and climb to the slopes of Latemar – but there does not seem to be much sense in this. It should also be taken into account that skibuses run infrequently between skiing areas: between Alpe Chermis and Latemar, for example, once every forty minutes. We recommend that you carefully study the schedule and routes!

In the Latemar area, trained skiers will enjoy several runs on the north-western slopes of Monte Agnello (2358) above Pampeago: there is an interesting, quite varied terrain. The rolling descent from Passo Feudo to Gardone station leaves a pleasant impression; its length is 2,650 m. The best “red” track in the Obereggen sector runs along the Absam-Mayert 6-chair -: an excellent place to improve technique. Simple, picturesque forest paths lead to the village itself. On Alpe Chermis, the spacious and bright tracks in the upper part of the area, along the Prafiori and Costabella 4-chairs, deserve attention; you can accelerate decently (and most importantly, safely) in certain areas. But on the two-kilometer “red” route in the area of Alpe Lucia, which leads from Le Goune to Verbona, you should not do this: it is twisty in places and does not forgive excessive self-confidence.

For beginners

There are more than enough pistes for beginners and small skiers in Val di Fiemi . Good conditions for quiet family skiing are one of the region’s trump cards.

At Latemar, near the Gardone station, there is an excellent training ground with a 4-chair lift. There is a “frog house” with a bugel directly above Obereggen. In the center of the district, a 500-meter long slope of Campo Shkola, where a 4-chair works, is reserved especially for beginners. Particularly popular are the simple “blue” slopes on both sides of Reiterjoch (2000) – but even with most of the “red” slopes of Latemar, beginner skiers can successfully cope after one or two days of training.

In the area of Alpe Chermisu, a wide, gentle, comfortable slope under the 4-chair Lagorai is almost entirely at the disposal of beginners. Having mastered it, they quickly move on to the neighboring tracks of medium difficulty, and down to the intermediate station of the gondola, they go down the forest “blue” path of Via del Bosco; its length is 4.5 km.

There is a small training area with a cable car lift at the Valbona station in the Alpe Lucia area. However, it is more interesting for beginner skiers on the soft and light southwestern slope of Laste. From the mark of 2327 m, a long, six-kilometer descent begins, which has several equivalent options.” It runs along three 4-seats and ends in Castellir (1550). By the way, this is part of one of the sixteen ski routes laid in the Dolomites, called the Emotioni ski tour.

Ski safari

A more or less long trip on the tracks without repeating the descents can be done only in the area of Latemaru – from Val di Fiemmeto Obereggen and back. Wherever you stop, in Cavalese or Predazzo, it is better to start the walk by climbing Gardone (1650) and higher, on Passo Feudo (2200). From here, follow the easy “red” route down to Pampeago (1757) and, using the Latemar 4-chair, once again climb the western slope. The next, rather short, descent will lead to a shallow basin, from which three 4-chair ropes are pulled in different directions. You need one that delivers to Pla di Santa. You decide whether or not to go up on a bugle to the highest point of the entire region, at 2388 m: the view from the plateau is wonderful, for many tens of kilometers, and the track is uninteresting, very gentle. But the steep “black” descent along the 4-chair will definitely appeal to strong skiers.

To get to the Obereggen sector, use the 4-chair lift of the same name, then slide down to the Absam Stube. From here, the 6-chair will drop to a height of 2,170 m, and you will be able to pass the high-quality “red Maierl track with several accelerating turns. Next is the Laner 4-chair lift and a pleasant descent to Obereggen: keep right to steer to the Oberholz 4-chair lift. The route has reached its extreme point – you can move in the reverse direction, from north to south. Not bad at the top of the track, starting from the mark of 2150 m, passing Rifud Epircher, leads to Absam. Having climbed Maierl, go to the left and follow any of the “red and blue” tracks to the Reiterjoch 4-chair – it will turn you into the Val di Fiemme sector. A long, sometimes quite crowded descent to Pampeago. Above the station, on the north side of Monte Agnello (2358),

Ski resort Val di Fiemme (Val di Fiemme), Italy

In this way, you will get to know the main slopes of Latermar. Skiers based in Cavalese will be able to return home from Pampeago by bus. Or, together with those who live in Predazzo, on the 4-chair of the Residence, climb the Feudo pass and slide down to Gardone on the very good “red” Kinku Nazioni track. The described route takes 3-3.5 hours, depending on the speed of movement. In order to go around the entire ski area of Alpe Lucia, more or less trained skiers need an hour to an hour and a half.

Off the track

Fans of off-piste skiing will find several interesting places in the Latemar area. From Passo Feudo, you can descend towards Gardone on a wide unspoiled slope along the 4-chair and to the left of it. The western side of Feudo is steeper; small avalanches sometimes occur here, which, however, are strong enough to knock you off your feet and scare you quite a bit. On the northern slope of Monte Agnello there is a nice forest couloir, able to lead below the station of Pompeo; in this case, you will have to walk a couple of hundred meters to the ropes. A pleasant mogul track is usually trodden under the 4-seat Reiterjoch. Above Obereggen, off-piste skiing is often done to the right of the Oberholz 4-chair.

In the Alpe Chemris area, after a good snowfall, you can take a glorious walk in the wilderness on the open spaces of medium steepness on the northern slopes above Costabella (1900). Apart from the marked descents, there are no unexpected “surprises”. The situation is similar on Alpe Lucia, between Laste (2327) and Le Gounet (2380), with the only difference that these slopes “look” to the south and the fluffy snow on them does not last very long.

Snowboard

Latemar has a very good 600-meter snow park with large jumps, “rails” and a boardercross. Only it is not located on the left along the course of the Obereggen 4-chair, as shown on the map, but on the right. Two hundred meters from it, near the Toler track, an 80 m long half-pipe is usually built.

The Alpe Lucia Snowpark is located at the Morea 4-chair, the bordercross track is a little higher, not far from the Chalet Chiamre de les Stries.
