Tre Valli in Italy is a large skiing area that unites several ski resorts. The largest of them is Moena, which attracts with its good location on the border of the Tre Valli with the neighboring Val di Fiemme valley , as well as loud, fun entertainment. A little less – the picturesque Falkade, which lies on the other side of Tre Valli and offers its guests all kinds of outdoor activities. And for those who go to the Dolomites for intense skiing, the village of Passo San Pellegrino in the heart of the “three valleys” is the best choice.
This ski area is considered the most peaceful in the Val di Fassa region . There are not as many people here as in other resorts, and the prices are a little lower. Having purchased a single “ski pass”, you can ski on the territory of the entire region, the total mileage of which is several hundred kilometers.
Among the numerous tracks of Tre-Valley, there are plenty of routes for beginners, professionals and intermediate skiers. Snowboarders, freeriders and extremes, as well as fans of cross-country skiing, have at their disposal voluminous skating areas, where any ideas can be implemented. The infrastructure of the resort is also developed at the highest level. Hotels, restaurants, entertainment facilities and sports complexes offer their visitors a wide variety of services throughout the day.
Business card
The name Tre Valli in Italy translates as “three valleys”: this area unites resorts located in three different valleys – Alpa di Luziana, Passo San Pellegrino and Falcade. The last two are connected today in a single skating area.
More than 100 km of tracks (28 easy, 15 medium and 6 difficult, of which 45 km are equipped with snow cannons) with a total height difference from 1447 to 2513 meters are prepared for the services of skiers on the territory of Tre Valley. There are 27 ski lifts in operation, an excellent infrastructure for children’s recreation – the Babylandia kindergarten and snow park in the town of Valbona, the Costabella snow park in the village of the same name near the San Pellegrino pass and the Cima-Uomo children’s ski park are in operation.
- Moena is a small, cute town that attracts tourists, firstly, with a real resort life, and secondly, with a good location, since it is here that the crossing point of such beautiful skiing areas as Tre Valli, Val di Fassa and Val di Fiemme. There are no slopes or lifts in Moen itself. However, the nearest ski area of Alpa di Luziana is only 3.5 km away, and there 36 km of pistes and several dozen lifts await tourists.
- Passo San Pellegrino is located in the middle between Moyen and Falcade and connects Tre Valli into a single chain of descents and lifts. There are about 70 km of relatively easy “red and blue” descents, but from the slopes of K-Margherita, adjacent to Falkade, the difficult tracks Nero-40, Nero-41 and Nero-42 converge.
- Falcade is a much smaller town than Moena, but the ski lifts and slopes are located almost within the city limits. Therefore, if the tourist chose Tre-Valley as a place of rest, and the place of residence prefers a quiet place, far from noisy companies, then Falkade is just that. The calling card of the area is the peak of K-Marguerite (2500 m, the highest in the Tre Valley region), which lies behind the pass of the same name. A little lower, from K-Margherita to the Passo San Pellegrino park, difficult “black” tracks begin, the best of which is Rossignolo-30.
- Alpa di Luziana has 30 km of pistes, which are considered a paradise for beginners. From the side of Bellamonte (from where it is easiest to get to this skiing area) from a height of 1,969 meters there is a “blue” forest track 3.2 km long and up to 70 meters wide. From the top of di-Lucia, there are tracks serviced by cannons with a variable profile, but they are also not difficult. And the tracks from the Moen side belong to a more serious level. For example, the “black” Nero-5 with a length of 1,200 meters has a drop of 442 meters, and the “black” track in Ronchi has several quite difficult sections even for experienced skiers.
Tracks, slopes, lifts
The skiing area Alpa di Luziana is located in the immediate vicinity of the town of Moena and forms one whole with it. This area is considered one of the youngest in Val di Fassa and has not only well-maintained trails, modern gondola and chairlifts, excellent ski schools, but also wonderful mountain scenery, especially impressive in its beauty at sunset. Approximately 60% of the trails in this area are designed for beginners and have wide and gentle slopes that are ideal for learning the first skills. The rest of the routes are divided into routes of increased difficulty and those recommended exclusively for professionals. Skiing areas are also equipped for snowboarders. For children aged 3 to 5, a wonderful playground “Babylandia” has been made. A feature of the district is the absence of lifts directly on the territory of the town of Moyena. The nearest station can be reached from the hotels by a free bus that runs regularly, where tourists are given the choice of which ski area of Val di Fassa to go to. The city itself is distinguished by unusual elegance, and its cathedrals, traditional medieval bridges and low-rise buildings give it even more charm, which intensifies in the evening, under the light of twinkling lights.
The second skiing area is Tre Valleyis Passo San Pellegrino. Unlike Moen, here the hotels and lifts are located very close to the mountain slopes, and the majestic Italian Alps appear before the guests of the resort in all their glory. Professionals are especially delighted by the pristine descents from the slopes of K-Margherita, over rugged terrain. However, there is also enough adrenaline here for beginners and intermediate skiers. Territorially, Passo San Pellegrino is located between the regions of Trentino and Belluno, just 11 kilometers from the mysterious town of Moena. Just a few kilometers from the skiing area, the routes leading to the places of combat glory of the Second World War begin. Therefore, in addition to mind-blowing descents and picturesque alpine peaks, inquisitive fans of winter sports can make an unforgettable excursion to historical places.
Passo San Pellegrino ski resort
The third ski area of Tre Valli, Falcade, located at an altitude of 1100 meters above sea level, is perhaps the most versatile of all the resorts of the “Three Valleys”. It is located 45 kilometers from one of the most romantic cities in the world – Venice. Its characteristic features are numerous winter sports that can be practiced here, as well as excellent SPA centers located in the resort area. Snowshoeing, snow tubing, ice skating, and excellent sledding tracks are especially popular among winter entertainment here. Those who wish can rent a snowmobile and make an unforgettable trip across the endless snowy plains. As for the ski slopes, the best tracks for real “pros” are between the top of K-Margherita and the Passo San Pellegrino Park. The rest of the skiing area is suitable for both experienced skiers and beginners. Lifts are located in the immediate vicinity of hotels, within the city limits. Overall, Falcade has a reputation for being a peaceful, quiet town, far from the hustle and bustle of big cities and glamorous resorts.
Entertainment and active recreation
In comparison with the surrounding areas, Campitello and Canacea, Tre Valliis considered somewhat less prestigious, but its popularity does not suffer from this at all. Even in the high season, with a massive influx of tourists, it is always cozy and comfortable here. The variety and large number of routes of varying degrees of difficulty allows mountain skiers to ride in different directions without creating high density in individual areas. The main facility for entertainment and fun in the region is Moyena. Local restaurants deserve special attention here, among which Rifugio Fuciade, Taverna del Garber, La Sfizio and Malga Panna stand out. The signature dish of the local cuisine is the cheese delicacy “Puzzone di Moena”. In combination with Italian music and indescribable surroundings, Moena becomes a real paradise corner of civilization, surrounded by countless snowy slopes.
Beautiful landscapes, developed infrastructure and high quality of Tre-Valley tracks are an integral feature of this ski complex. Although it is not yet as popular as some other Val di Fassa resorts, thousands of winter sports fans come here every year, who are happy to stay in the comfortable hotels of the Tre Valli resort areas and enjoy skiing among the picturesque mountain peaks Dolomite Alps.
