Le Menuire in France is one of the resorts of the legendary Three Valleys, an ideal choice for skiers of various levels of training, youth and family recreation. Le Menuir is located at an altitude of 1850 m, combines the flavor of an alpine village and excellent opportunities for skiing and recreation. Prepared slopes with guaranteed snow cover, numerous tracks for beginners and extreme fans, hotels and residences located near the tracks and ski lifts, restaurants and bars, sports and entertainment for every taste and age.
In Le Menuire, everything is just great with convenience. Of course, this is a modern sports resort, devoid of the charm of an ancient village (for those who cannot imagine a winter holiday without ancient chalets, it is worth staying with the village of Saint-Martin-de-Belleville , located a little further down the slope, connected to Le Menuire by lift ) , but thanks to this, it was possible to raise the level of comfort here to unprecedented heights. Hotels built in recent years were immediately built with the expectation of skiing to the door, the tracks were laid with the expectation of the maximum variety of terrain and the highest level of safety, and most of them have a warm southern exposure.
History and modernity
Le Menuir began to be created as a ski resort in the 1950s. It was officially opened in 1965, and in 1967, the first residential area of Le Creuzette was built here, which today is the center of the resort.
Le Menuire: where to ride
Le Menuire has excellent conditions for skiing of all levels. The resort is combined into one skiing area with neighboring Saint-Martin and offers 160 km of trails of varying difficulty: 6 black, 24 red, 37 blue and 12 green. There is a special skiing area for beginners and difficult tracks for experienced skiers in the area of the La Mas massif, where the Walibi Gliss play area is also open. Thrill-seekers will appreciate the BK Park play area with trampolines and “Railies”, and on the new Mini KL track you can find out your maximum speed in complete safety. The skiing area of Le Menuire and Saint Martin is served by 34 lifts and 410 snow cannons, which ensure guaranteed snow cover. There are also 28 km of cross-country skiing trails between Le Menuire and St. Maarten.
The main part of the descents of the Menuir area is on the western slopes of Mont de la Chambre (2850 m). The maximum height of the pistes on the opposite slopes in the Le Mas area is 2,805 m. They have a north-eastern exposure, and the quality of the snow is better here. The ascent to the top starts from the center of Menuir on the gondola lift, which consists of two lines. Le Mas has interesting black and red runs, less crowded with skiers. There are a variety of off-piste routes, one of which is the Vallon de Liu, leading directly to the Val Thorens . You will have to return from the end points of other routes by any means of transport.
On the western slopes of Mont de la Chambre, there are easier descents, mainly red and blue. The snow here is not always good because of the sunlight. The transition to the Méribel valley or the descent to Val Thorens via Mont de la Chambre will take about an hour. From Saint-Martin de Belleville, you can also take a chair lift to the crest of the mountain, from which you can descend both towards Méribel and towards Menuir.
The tracks are very well prepared and carefully marked. The lower sections of the tracks are equipped with snow cannons.
Skiing zone – 1850-3200 meters
The total length of the tracks is 160 km
The number of lifts is 45
The length of the tracks for cross-country skiing is 28 km
There are ski schools (more than 200 instructors).
Own trails around Le Menuire160 km is covered, and if you take into account the system of lifts that connect all the resorts of the Three Valleys together, if you wish, you can ride all 600 km of one of the largest ski regions in Europe. It is not surprising that with such wealth, the builders spared no space for training tracks. The special sector of La Croisette is completely dedicated to children and beginners – and this is not a miserable pair of flat ski lifts, as is the case in other resorts, but a full-fledged skiing area with an area of 5,000 square meters. All lifts in this area are free, the slopes are simple, wide and level . In La Croisette, where the largest of the local ski schools – ESF is located, there is a children’s park “Schtrumpfs”, in which you can “hand over” a child from the age of three months. Another ski kindergarten “Piou-Piou” works with children from 2.5 years old. If you get tired of sitting in the “toad house”, then there are suitable conditions on the nearest tracks
The most interesting tracks for those who ski well are located on the La Mas massif. It is worth riding along the long tracks from the peak of Trois Marches and Mont de la Chambre. There are many slopes around Menuir that are ideal for freeriding: you can go directly to the lifts and avoid the need to use the bus. There are quite a few easy blue trails, but they are located mainly on the lower level of the slopes, which worsens their quality in warm and sunny winter. In peak seasons, the shuttles to the resort are overcrowded.
