Ski resort Jasna, Slovakia
A short excursion into history
In the Middle Ages, iron ore was mined in the caves of Demanovska Dolyna, and then it was hardly possible to assume that a modern ski resort with dozens of wonderful trails would flourish on the local slopes in a few hundred years. Nevertheless, by the end of the First World War, cottages designed for country recreation began to be built in these places. Over time, a cable car appeared here and a system of ski routes on the mountain slopes was developed. Then ski competitions began to be held here, and Yasna gained more and more importance on the ski map of Central Europe. Nowadays, the resort is quite well-known on the continent and constantly enjoys the attention of thousands of skiers.
Climate
Weather conditions in the region are considered quite comfortable for skiing. In the winter months, the average air temperature drops slightly below zero, although severe frosts are extremely rare. The clear sun and clean air, imbued with the smell of spruce, are a wonderful addition to the process of skiing, and the soft, fluffy snow is an indispensable attribute of the local tracks. The winter season in Demanovska Dolyna lasts from December to the beginning of April.
