Galtyur winter resort is an ideal place for a comfortable and interesting family vacation. The resort is characterized by the presence of modest skiing without pretensions on 15 tracks (there is also a lighted track), which can be found on the slopes of Balunspitze.
A skiing vacation in Galtyur is attractive not only for lovers of calm, “prepared” tourist skiing: there are as many as 4 virgin skiing areas. Galtyur is not included in the top ten most popular resorts with pristine skiing solely because of the quiet evening program after skiing.
The winter season in Galtyure lasts from December to April. As in most mountainous regions of Austria, it is accompanied by a large amount of snowfall and stable weather conditions. Severe frosts are quite rare here, and soft, fluffy snow not only contributes to good skiing, but also in a strange way complements the overall picture of natural landscapes, which fascinate with their diversity and add fresh emotions while passing ski tracks
Description of the resort
The traditional alpine village of Galtyur, located at an altitude of 1,600 m in the Patsnaun valley, has long been a favorite of beginner skiers and lovers of virgin skiing. This is one of the most ecologically clean places among the peaks of the Silvretta massif. From here, you can reach the famous ski resort of Ischgl by bus in just 15-20 minutes. The bus is free only for those who have bought a special Silvretta ski pass – for all skiing regions of the Patznaun valley. One of the advantages of the resort is the opportunity to stay in good quality hotels at a reasonable price and to ski in the Ischgl – Samnaun area. Galtur has its own skating area called Silvapark, which is divided into 6 sectors designed for different levels of training. The belfry of the local parish church greets resort guests from afar. Behind it rises the majestic Hausberg mountain, on the top of which is the Ballunspitze peak.
The skiing season in Galtür lasts, as in many other Austrian resorts, from December to April. The height difference here is 1,584-2,297 m. The resort has at its disposal 40 km of ski tracks, including easy – 6 km, medium – 24 km, difficult – 10 km. Thanks to the gondola cableway, skiers and snowboarders can easily and quickly get to all slopes. You can also climb the slopes with the help of three chairlifts and six rope lifts.
For snowboarders, a fan park with a half pipe (from 80 m), springboards and a border cross is equipped in the skiing area. Children were not forgotten at the resort. A lighted 200-meter toboggan run has been prepared for them, a ski school and a club are open.
In addition, excellent conditions for virgin skiing have been created in Galtyure. The cross-country ski tracks are 74 km long, of which more than 18 km are at an altitude of 2,040 m.
Fans of active recreation at the resort can enjoy an ice rink, horse riding, a bowling alley, bowling, hiking, and paragliding. You can also use the services of a modern sports club with a swimming pool and a fitness center.
Galtyur resort is the complete opposite of its neighbor Ischgl . Loud parties are not held here, but you can always spend the evening in one of the local restaurants, bars or cafes, enjoying a warm, cozy and peaceful atmosphere. And Galtyur is simply created for lovers of comfortable skiing and pristine snow.
Residence
As accommodation in Galtyure, tourists are provided with a wide selection of hotels, apartments and cottages for every taste and budget. Unlike Ischgl and many other Austrian ski resorts, the prices for accommodation, as well as for “ski passes”, here are much lower and allow you to make your vacation quite economical. At the same time, all hotels are well equipped and fully meet the highest European standards. In the low season, the resort is usually visited by Austrians, and when the turn of the Christmas holidays comes, the hotel rooms begin to fill up quite briskly with foreigners. On the eve of the New Year, the alpine village lights up with the light of multi-colored bulbs and lanterns, and local residents go outside to collectively celebrate the main event of the year. On such days it is especially fun here, although the noise and fireworks of Ischgl can be heard even here,
Hotel Alpenromantik Wirlerhof is located right next to the Birkhahn lift station in the Silvretta-Galthur ski area. Cable cars and ski schools are located directly opposite the hotel.
Hotel Wirlerhof offers rooms and suites decorated in a traditional Tyrolean style, a fireplace hall with a bar, a sun terrace, and an underground car park.
The restaurant serves regional and international cuisine with products from the hotel’s own farm. There is also a ski restaurant with an aprèsca bar.
The 800 m² spa center has an indoor pool with a hot tub and a children’s pool, a modern gym and a large sauna area. You will also be offered various types of massage, baths and procedures of ancient Indian medicine.
The Ischgl-Samnaun ski area is 10 km from the hotel. The free ski bus stops right outside the hotel.
In summer, the Alpenromantik Wirlerhof is ideal for hiking and mountain biking.
Starting from the summer of 2013, the Silvretta All Inclusive card will be included in the price of accommodation in apartments of all categories during the summer season. It entitles you to free travel on the region’s cable cars and buses from Landeck to Bilerhoch, as well as free access to indoor/outdoor swimming pools and lakes in the Patznaun Valley.
The location of this option is one of the best in Galtyur ! Guests are more satisfied with them than with the location of other options in the area.
Couples especially like the location.
