Earn More Wyndham Rewards with Citi Points
The Citi ThankYou program has rolled out a new transfer bonus, and while it’s not exactly setting my world on fire, it might still light a spark for some of you out there. So, let’s dive into why this promo might be worth considering—for the right person.
Citi Offers a 25% Bonus on Transfers to Wyndham Rewards
Mark your calendars: from August 24 to September 20, 2025, if you’re in the USA, the Citi ThankYou program is giving you a little boost—a 25% bonus on transfers to Wyndham Rewards, to be exact.
Normally, you’re looking at a straightforward 1:1 points transfer ratio, but during this deal? Transfer 1,000 Citi ThankYou points and score 1,250 Wyndham Rewards points. It’s simple math with a sweetener.
This bonus is baked right into the transfer rates, so you’ll spot that extra 25% lurking in your account when you make the switch—and yes, you can exploit this as many times as you please. Bonus points transfer rapidly, so buckle up.
Wyndham Rewards joined the Citi ThankYou party in 2021, and this is already the fourth time we’re seeing a perk like this. Can’t complain about having a handful of cards to boost your ThankYou points stash—like the Citi Strata Premier® and Citi Strata Elite℠ cards. You can easily shuffle those points around, too.
Should You Convert Citi Points to Wyndham Rewards?
Now, before you leap, some number crunching might be in order. As straight as a die, I’d advise against transferring Citi ThankYou points to Wyndham Rewards, 25% bonus or not.
In my own financial fantasy, I price Wyndham Rewards points around 0.7 cents a pop. Even with the bonus, you’re not hitting the jackpot, value-wise. Sometimes, Wyndham also teases with purchasing deals, letting you bag points for even less than one cent each.
To put this in perspective: standard Wyndham properties will set you back 7,500, 15,000, or 30,000 points a night, and while they do have some snazzy stays, those are a needle in a haystack. So, weigh your options wisely.
Adding another layer, Choice Privileges also welcomes Citi ThankYou points, and I reckon both are worth similar sums. Yet, Choice lets you do a 1:2 transfer, while Wyndham sits at 1:1. Imagining a 1:2 Wyndham transfer would make it worthwhile, but in this reality, bets are low for big returns.
That said, one standout exists. Thanks to Wyndham’s date with Vacasa, holiday rentals offer a sugary deal. Picture this: 15,000 or 30,000 points per night at Vacasa. The math is 15,000 points per bedroom when booking’s value is up to $250 a night, or 30,000 when nudging $251-$500. For niche value seekers, this might just bridge the incentive gap.
The niche appeal exists and might be the hidden treasure for the right planner.
Bottom Line
Until September 20, 2025, the Citi ThankYou program dangles a 25% bonus on your Wyndham Rewards point transfers. But let’s face it, for many, it’s just not a barn-burner. With Wyndham points hanging at around 0.7 cents each and considering the bonus, don’t expect winds of change—unless you’ve got a Vacasa rental in your sights, take a backseat on this one.
Anybody eyeing this Citi transfer bonus like it’s golden goose? Chime in!
