Discover Salterra: A Luxe Paradise in Turks

Back in early 2024, we caught wind that Marriott was bringing its luxury touch to Turks & Caicos, a promising getaway indeed. Well, fast forward, the resort has officially opened its doors. Let’s dive into all the juicy details.

Marriott Luxury Collection Opens in Turks & Caicos

Stepping onto the scene as of March 8, 2025, Salterra joins the ranks of Marriott’s Luxury Collection. Nestled in the splendor of Turks & Caicos, more precisely on South Caicos Island, it’s a renovation of the previous East Bay Resort rather than a brand-new structure.

This isn’t your colossal tourist trap—it boasts just 100 keys. Dining options? You bet! Six different venues ranging from swanky fine dining to casual nibbles await. Add a spa with eight treatment rooms, a state-of-the-art gym, sprawling pool area, and a sandy beach at your doorstep, and you’ve got a recipe for blissful escape.

For the visual learners out there, imagine swish renderings reflecting luxury at every corner.

Getting There

Most folks usually land at Providenciales (PLS) and make their way to the famed Grace Bay Beach. But if you’re feeling adventurous, Salterra offers an alternative experience. Fly into South Caicos Airport (XSC), a mere 20-minute jaunt from Providenciales, and you’re practically there.

Salterra Turks & Caicos: Rates & Points Requirements

With Salterra now a sparkling jewel in the Marriott Luxury Collection crown, what’s the damage to your wallet? Given the Caribbean’s penchant for seasonal flux, expect rates to dance considerably. During peak times (think winter and spring), a standard room will set you back between $1,000 to $1,500 per night. Catch the off-season wave in late summer and early fall, and those rates dip to around $600.

If you’re splurging cash on your stay, booking via the Val Seny ski resort could shower you with perks like free breakfast, a $100 dining credit, room upgrades (if Luck’s on your side), and more.

For those stacking up Marriott Bonvoy points instead, brace yourself. High season stays can soar up to 122,000 points per night, whereas low season charitably asks for only 82,000 points. Don’t forget the perk of snagging a fifth night free on award bookings, making your points stretch a tad further.

The Growing Points Hotel Scene in Turks & Caicos

Turks & Caicos isn’t just eye candy, it’s conveniently close to the States, especially Florida. Historically, points hotels have been scant, but oh, how the tides are shifting!

A while back, we witnessed the grand entry of the Ritz-Carlton Turks & Caicos. It’s superbly placed on Grace Bay Beach with gorgeous grounds. Still, it somewhat lacks the lavish feel and character you might expect.

With Salterra’s debut, discerning travelers can relish a more off-the-beaten-path retreat on less bustling South Caicos Island. Here, you’ll also encounter Sailrock Resort—a gem within the Small Luxury Hotels of the World collective.

Looking forward, the much-anticipated Andaz Turks & Caicos is set to make waves in 2026—promising 59 hotel rooms and 74 residences directly artfully perched on Grace Bay Beach. It seems Hyatt has its sights firmly set on this Caribbean haven.

Bottom Line

As of March 2025, Salterra Turks & Caicos has swung open its doors under the Marriott Luxury Collection banner. It’s a rejuvenated rendition of the erstwhile East Bay Resort. With just 100 rooms tucked into South Caicos Island, anticipate a locale devoid of the standard Grace Bay Beach vibe. I’m eagerly anticipating a potential visit myself.

So, what’s your take on Marriott’s new Salterra addition?
