1. Experience Morocco

Morocco is not that far from Germany, and yet you will immerse yourself in a completely different world. Here you can breathe in the oriental air, listen to the sounds of snake charmers, and experience the hustle and bustle in the souks. Morocco is both magical and attractive. There is also much to discover in nature, whether on the beach, in the mountains, in the green oases, or in the Sahara Desert. How about a tour of Morocco?

While it’s freezing cold here, in Agadir on the Atlantic you can expect winter temperatures of around 18 degrees and more. At night, the thermometer rarely drops below 8 degrees. And even in midsummer, it’s bearable there, as the winds from the Atlantic provide a pleasant cooling effect. Temperatures are similar in Marrakech, Essaouira, and Fez.

2. Relaxing in Andalusia

Andalusia captivated us from the very beginning. The south of Spain is so different from all the other parts of the country. Here, people live for the day; there’s no room for hecticness and stress. There are numerous beautiful villages and towns, both in the mountains and on the shimmering turquoise Atlantic. How about a city trip to the magnificent city of Seville or a tour of the hilly landscape to the “pueblo blanco” Ronda?

We spent a lot of time in Andalusia and especially fell in love with Tarifa. This small town at the southern tip, with its beautiful, charming old town and many cozy cafés, has burned its way into our nomad hearts. In Seville, the thermometer often reaches 20 degrees Celsius in December, while in Tarifa and Marbella it’s at least 17 degrees Celsius or more. In cities like Granada, the thermometer even climbs above 20 degrees Celsius. That’s a bearable winter vacation, right?

3. Exploring the beautiful Algarve

Portugal is one of our absolute favorites in the world. The country simply captivates us again and again; we can’t help it. A winter vacation here in Portugal is definitely worth it; there are numerous highlights throughout the country. We were particularly impressed by the south of the country, on the Algarve. While the weather was really miserable in Germany, we were able to lie on the beach in 28 degrees Celsius and even swim in the sea.

The coast offers variety, stunning bays, caves, grottos, beaches, and beautiful villages and towns. It’s best to rent a car and explore a few more places in the Algarve in more detail. You can fly to Lisbon or Faro very cheaply, especially in winter, and accommodations and rental cars are also cheaper during this time.

4. Sunbathing and Swimming in Mauritius

Anyone who knows us knows that we LOVE Mauritius! The island is a kind of second home to us because we not only have very good friends there but also know the island inside and out. Mauritius isn’t just the luxury island you see in a catalog, where only 5-star resorts are listed. Mauritius has so much more to offer! Even as a low-budget tourist, you can experience a dream winter vacation here.

There’s a lot to experience in Mauritius, even though the island seems very small. For example, you can explore the unique underwater world, climb mountains, swim under waterfalls, stroll through food markets, discover stunning islands, and have the time of your life. Mauritius is what you make of it! The best time to travel is from November to March, when temperatures are around 30 degrees Celsius and above. November is the most pleasant time, as it’s not quite as hot on the island and the humidity is perfectly bearable.

5. Tour of South Africa

South Africa! You beautiful country on the other side of the world. Anyone who has been there once will definitely return. South Africa is almost always a sad experience when they leave. Never before have we seen nature in such abundance. Never before have we experienced such a diverse, exciting, and unique road trip. Everyone should visit this country at least once in their life and see for themselves.

With a car, you can travel through the country in a relaxed and comfortable manner. There are countless highlights along the route from Johannesburg to Cape Town. And even if you don’t have that much time, a trip to Cape Town and the surrounding area is worthwhile. The most popular time for a winter holiday in South Africa is from November to March. However, we found even September and October to be super pleasant.

6. Summer Feeling in Thailand

Who hasn’t wanted to go to Thailand? Here you’ll find gorgeous beaches, a fascinating culture, friendly locals, delicious food, and countless islands to explore. Furthermore, a vacation in Thailand isn’t all that expensive; in general, life in Asia is comparatively very affordable.

How about a trip to Bangkok combined with a vacation on one of the many dream islands such as Koh Phangan, Koh Lanta, or Phuket? The best time to travel to Thailand is November to March with warm temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius. During this dry season, the least rain falls. Perfect, right? So you can confidently leave your winter blues at home in Germany and head off with a coconut

7. City Trip to Barcelona

Barcelona is always a good choice – whether spring, summer, fall, or winter. I (Bolle) was in Barcelona twice in December alone and was sometimes even able to walk through the streets in a t-shirt. Prices in winter are also significantly lower than in summer and during peak season. Here you’ll find our insider tips for your vacation in Barcelona. Rent a bike and cycle along the coast or stroll through the beautiful Gothic Quarter.

You’ll need a thicker jacket in the evening, but winter is still much more fun in Barcelona than in Germany. We promise! During the day, the thermometer in the Catalan capital often climbs to 18 degrees – we even had 22 degrees both times. During peak season, Barcelona is extremely crowded and, above all, extremely hot. We generally recommend a trip to this city during the off-season and in winter anyway.

8. Dream Paradise Vietnam

Are you in the mood for delicious food, green rice fields, temples, culture, and the warm sea? Vietnam offers a variety of highlights, landscapes, and adventures. Traveling from the north to the south (or vice versa) allows you to easily explore the entire country. We immediately fell in love with the city of Hoi An in central Vietnam. We had great accommodation in the rice paddies, cycled to the old town, ate incredibly delicious food, and relaxed in the pool.

The climate varies by region. For example, temperatures in the north are different from those in the south or central Vietnam. However, in February, you have the chance to enjoy good weather in all regions. Also note that you need a visa for Vietnam if you want to stay in the country for longer than 15 days. The island of Phu Quoc is also particularly popular, with a 40 km long sandy beach and Vietnam’s only sunset beach: Long Beach.

9. Travel to the Middle East

How about a trip to the Orient, to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Oman? Also Israel, Jordan, or Egypt? Here, you can really enjoy yourself in the winter and don’t have to worry about mass tourism.

Jordan, Israel, and Oman are very popular with us. In the winter months, for example, you can expect temperatures over 22 degrees Celsius in southern Israel on the Red Sea, as well as in southern Jordan. In southern Oman on the Arabian Sea, the thermometer even climbs to a crisp 28 degrees Celsius in December. Wow! Amazing! Even in January and February, temperatures are 25 degrees Celsius and above. Update: Our tour through Israel was amazing!

10. Our winter vacation – Belize

Generally, you can have a great winter vacation, especially in the Caribbean and Central America in general. Whether it’s Barbados, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Jamaica, or even Belize. We’re incredibly excited about our tour through this small country and are already curious about what awaits us there.

We’re traveling to Belize during the best time to travel – February. It will probably be busier than in the off-season, but our flight deal wasn’t going anywhere else. So we’ll take advantage of the great weather and possibly higher prices. But no matter what, we just want to be back on the beaches, swimming in the ocean, and especially snorkeling. Update: We’re now back from Belize and can only say one thing: AMAZING!

Winter vacation? Yes! Because we’re summer children through and through!

We’re simply not made for winter and love traveling in the summer. We feel most at home by the sea, on the beach, and under palm trees. Have you ever flown/traveled on vacation in the winter? Where did you go? Which destinations can you recommend for a winter vacation? We look forward to your comments here under this post.
