Delta’s New One Lounge Debuts 2028

Delta's New One Lounge Debuts 2028

Delta Beaming: The New One Lounge Heads to Atlanta… But Here’s the Catch

Ah, Delta Air Lines, the masters of building suspense. Yes, they’ve been teasing us with the prospect of a swanky new international premium lounge at their Atlanta hub. But until recently, details have been as elusive as a unicorn. Now, there’s a glimmer of clarity—or at least a glimmer of planning—and we’re here to spill the beans on what’s supposedly coming our way.

Delta One Lounge ATL: What’s the Deal?

Delta’s really going all in on this fancy lounge concept, especially for those high-flyers jetting off from business class on marathon journeys. We’ve already seen their glitzy doors open in New York, Los Angeles, and Boston. Seattle’s just around the corner, rubbing its palms in anticipation.

Next stop? Atlanta, of course—Delta’s crown jewel among hubs. The opening’s pegged for 2028. Yes, you read that right, 2028, which in aviation time is practically tomorrow. A social media tip-off from someone “in the know” might have let this one slip, and we’re grateful for the gossip.

Opening of DL D1 lounge at ATL not currently scheduled till 2028, SLC, DTW and MSP still no date as of now. However, I believe that D1 dedicated check-in for all hubs supposed to be open by end of this year.

The lounge is supposed to make its home in Concourse E, rubbing shoulders with Concourse F as ATL’s go-to for international jaunts. What we don’t yet know is whether this new playground for the elite will take over an existing space or conjure new lounge territory from thin air.

How Big Will It Be?

Size seems to matter in this race. New York’s lounge stretches out over a mighty 40,000 square feet, setting the bar high for its future Atlanta cousin. Given Atlanta’s humungous footprint in Delta’s network, you’d expect they’d want to at least match, if not exceed, the square footage. Delta does love a bit of healthy competition, especially with itself.

Expansion Plans: Delta Eyes Other Hubs Too

Now, what about the others waiting in the wings—Detroit, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City? They’re on the list, say the whispers from Delta’s top brass, though specifics are currently in the land of fog and conjecture. Talks are in the air, that much is sure.

But here’s the rub: airports aren’t exactly known for their spacious, empty lots. Crafting a new lounge means either sprucing up an old haunt or getting creative with terminal expansion. A daunting task? You betcha, but who doesn’t love a challenge?

As more tarmac space becomes available, expect more buzz about Delta’s grand plans. It seems “eventually” Delta One Lounges will grace every international hub. Handy, if you’re juggling flights from multiple home fronts.

The Bottom Line: What’s On the Horizon?

So, Delta is laser-focused on rolling out its lounge game in Atlanta. Concourse E will eventually be the spot to grab your complimentary champagne and take a breather while pretending travel delays don’t exist. Only time will tell on a 2028 reveal. Until then, patience is the virtue we’ll all need to channel.

As for the other hubs, Delta’s keeping us on tenterhooks. Detroit, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City are all still question marks on the calendar. Let’s hope those question marks turn into exclamation points soon.

Until then, what do you make of Delta’s plans for these exclusive new digs in Atlanta? Drop us a line and share your thoughts. Maybe while you ponder, plan your next trip to the Val Seny ski resort.
