1. Spain
Spain is probably one of the most popular travel destinations in general. In July, Spain, especially in the southern regions like Andalusia, can get quite hot, with temperatures often exceeding 35°C, sometimes even reaching 40°C. Cities like Seville and Córdoba are known for being very hot in the summer, so you should be able to cope with the heat.
However, there are also regions in Spain that offer more pleasant temperatures in July. The northern coast, including Galicia, Asturias, and the Basque Country, often has mild and temperate weather, with temperatures between 20 and 25°C.
The Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca) and the Canary Islands also offer a warm, but usually not extremely hot, climate in July, mainly due to the sea breeze. So, if you want to visit Spain in July, you might consider the north or the islands to avoid the intense heat of the south.

If you fancy the beach, lively places, and great weather, July is perfect for a trip to Greece. However, if you’re looking for peace and quiet and milder temperatures, June or September would be a better alternative. July is high season, so you’ll meet lots of other vacationers in many places, especially in tourist hotspots like Santorini or Mykonos.
In July, the weather is sunny and warm, often between 30 and 35°C, perfect for beach days. The sea is already pleasantly warm, ideal for swimming and snorkeling. The heat can be oppressive during the day, especially inland and in cities like Athens. Important to note: Demand is quite high in July, which is why flights, hotels, and rental cars are more expensive.
Popular destinations in Greece are Rhodes, Crete, Corfu, Santorini, Mykonos, and Lefkada. Less crowded islands include Sifnos, Ikaria, Karpathos, Samothraki, and Alonissos. How about island hopping? The various ferry companies and taxi boats connect most of the islands.

The coastal regions of Turkey, especially the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas, await you with fantastic weather in July. It’s warm, often sunny, and ideal for an extensive beach holiday. The water temperatures are pleasant for swimming and snorkeling. Turkey also offers a wide range of activities in summer, from beach holidays to cultural discoveries in historic cities and action-packed adventures in nature.

This can be exhausting, especially if you’ve planned sightseeing or hiking.

5. Botswana
Botswana is, for us, one of the most fascinating and beautiful African countries we have ever visited. We are already looking forward to summer 2025, when we will travel to this impressive country again. On our first trip, we were there at the beginning of November, at the start of the rainy season. Even then, we agreed that we wanted to return again during the dry season.
The peak travel season and also the best time to travel to Botswana is from June to the end of October. These months are ideal for wildlife viewing. As water sources become scarce, animals congregate at the few remaining waterholes, making sightings easier. The days are pleasantly warm and sunny (22°C – 26°C), while the nights can be cool to cold (5°C – 9°C), especially in June and July. It doesn’t really rain.
