The peak travel season for Saint Lucia naturally also falls in the driest months and is from December to February. If you want to save a little money, I recommend traveling to the tropical, green island of Saint Lucia starting in March, April, or May. The weather is still good at this time, but temperatures are slowly starting to rise a bit, reaching up to 32°C. The warmest month of the year is May, with temperatures never falling below 23°C even at night.

Climate on Saint Lucia

Due to its proximity to the equator, Saint Lucia has a typically tropical climate, giving the island warm temperatures and humid air year-round. Thanks to the northeast trade winds, the temperatures on the island are bearable. However, a tropical climate also means a lot of rainfall, especially between June and November. The average maximum temperature is around 29°C.

From December to April, it is a little cooler, with an average temperature of 27°C. From May onwards, temperatures rise again, averaging around 32°C. At night, temperatures drop to 21°C in winter and a maximum of 23°C in the summer months. In the mountainous interior of the island, it is generally a little cooler, but also more humid, as rain clouds settle here at an altitude of around 1000 metres, creating a more humid air than on the coast.

Rainy Season on the Island

The rainy season on Saint Lucia is from June to October/November; this is when by far the most precipitation falls and it is hurricane season. 21 to 23 rainy days per month can put you in a slightly bad mood, but don’t worry too much if you’re depending on the German summer holidays as your travel time. However, it can happen that it rains for one, two, or three days. That’s exactly what happened to Bolle and Marco in November.

At some point, the weather calmed down, and the two were able to explore the island in perfect weather. The sun finally came out again, giving them wonderful hours on the beach. On average, the sun breaks through the clouds for 7 to 8 hours during the rainy season. The showers are often short but heavy. The average annual rainfall is around 1,500 mm along the coast and just under 3,500 mm in the forested mountain region.

The tropical island of Saint Lucia awaits you year-round with warm to hot temperatures around 29°C. Due to its proximity to the equator, it is permanently humid, with rain falling on 10 to 26 days per month (depending on the season). In general, the mountains make it wetter inland than the coast, where a pleasant breeze blows intermittently. The peak travel season is from December to February; it’s a bit cheaper and quieter in March, April, and May. So, it’s a good idea to think about what you want to experience on your vacation before your trip.
