Let’s start this post with one of our favorite places here in our hometown, namely the DOCK INN Hostel Warnemünde*. Cool converted shipping containers await you, available as either a double room or a shared room. The lobby is nice and large and features comfortable seating, a photo booth, a small shop, a bar with a restaurant, a shared kitchen, a popcorn machine, a laundry room, and other cool highlights. 3. Water Tower in Waren

You can spend the night in a water tower? Yes! In Waren on the beautiful Müritz. This is where the historic and listed water tower is located, which has been lovingly renovated and rebuilt. The 120-year-old tower served as the town’s water supply from 1897 onwards and has been an exceptional holiday home since 2011.

Here on the Nesselberg, at a height of 35 meters, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the town of Waren, the Müritz, and the Müritz National Park. The water tower itself houses four different holiday apartments (Güstrow, Pankow, Hagenow, and Kargow). All apartments have a bathroom, kitchenette, living room, and bedroom. Depending on the apartment, they can accommodate two to six people. Pets are also allowed upon request.

4. Cozy Sleeping Barrel

Have you ever spent the night in a sleeping barrel? No? Well then it’s about time! On the eastern shore of Lake Plauer See (Mecklenburg Lake District) is the 14-hectare holiday and camping resort “Naturcamping ZWEI SEEN”. Here, you’ll find not only 450 meadow pitches and a 1,000-meter-long lakeshore with small bays, but also cozy log cabins, safari tents, teepees, and 16 unique sleeping barrels. 5. Tiny House near the Zahren Horses

Do you enjoy being in nature, love country life, and being surrounded by horses? Then you should pay a visit to the small “Gallic village” of Zahren. Here, on the edge of the Müritz National Park, you can truly unwind and enjoy your vacation in a converted trailer to the fullest. Awaiting you here is a small kitchen, living room with a fold-out couch, toilet, a shower next to the trailer, a small garden, and a few other two- and four-legged friends, such as a goat, two cats, ducks, and turkeys.

There’s also plenty to discover in the surrounding area, such as the Zahren Adventure Workshop, the canoe camp, the many surrounding lakes, fishing spots, the Schliemann Museum in Ankershagen, the Field Mouse House in Kratzeburg, the Hexenkeller Penzlin, the Müritz National Park, and much more. 6. Historic Rectory Recknitz

A while ago, we wanted to really escape for a few days to get some projects moving forward. For this, we booked the beautiful old Rectory Recknitz, located in a tiny village in the countryside of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. For us, it was the perfect place to slow down but also be creative. The former rectory has been painstakingly restored, yet the entire house is filled with antique objects and furniture from times long past.

We stayed in the ground-floor apartment with a bedroom, living room, bathroom, kitchen, dining area, terrace, grill, and a huge, lush garden. We recommend this accommodation especially for those seeking peace and quiet and needing a break from everyday life. Important: There are no shops in the small village itself.

7. The Organic Game Farm in Lalendaorf

During our research, we came across another exceptional accommodation in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. This time, we’re going to the wonderful Organic Game Farm in Lalendorf, where a 6400 square meter property with lush gardens and green spaces awaits you. The game farm also houses a variety of animals, such as rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, geese, and ducks, which can roam freely in small enclosures and be fed. Next door is a farm shop and a large enclosure with red deer and Gotland sheep. Perfect for a vacation with children.

The holiday home with panoramic views features a balcony, a carport, a living area with a fitted kitchen, a dining area, a modern shower room, a bedroom with a double bed, and two single beds directly under the roof. Bed linen and towels, electricity, and internet are included in the price. The final cleaning fee is currently €50. Important: In July and August, the minimum stay is 7 days. 8. The Kunterbunthof

During our research, we found another incredibly great place to stay in MV. Our journey takes us to the unique Kunterbunthof, located in the tiny village of Züsow. Globetrotter André Schumacher spent more than 15 years traveling the world, experiencing the craziest adventures. Eventually, however, he longed for a place to settle down and found an old farm in this small village in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. And it was here, over the past few years, that the charming Kunterbunthof was built, featuring tiny houses, yurts, pitches for tents and caravans, a vacation apartment, and many other highlights.

If you’re looking for a quiet place to take a breather, the Kunterbunthof is the perfect place for you. Enjoy the evening tranquility by the campfire with a good glass of wine, exchange ideas with like-minded people, or relax during a round of forest bathing among the rustic, ancient trees.
