One of the coolest ski resorts Ischglin Austria has a satellite town called Kappl. Or better said, a satellite village, which is more appropriate for Tyrolean villages, even famous ones.

The dream of every family and every avid skier or snowboarder is to visit the picturesque, sunny Kappl ski resort, having overcome almost 2,700 meters above sea level. The large ski resort is designed for both families and ambitious athletes, and will satisfy both with excellent conditions and good snow cover. Thanks to its ideal location, the sunny center at the summit – the Kappl ski resort – is very popular with vacationers.
In the Sunny Mountain children’s center, they feel at home. A spacious, modern kindergarten on the Diasalpe, a training ski area with a carousel, a tubing hill, a children’s moguls run and professional childcare for children from 3 years of age throughout the day.

The meeting place for snowboarders and freeriders is the Alblitt Snowpark at the lower station of the lift of the same name. Numerous boxes, kickers, rails, and bridges fascinate both actors and spectators.
Daytime skiing in romantic, gorgeous landscapes is not enough – don’t be lazy and wake up early on Monday so that after sunrise at 8 a.m. you can do somersaults on the renovated and well-groomed ski slopes.
The world’s first permanently operating bobsleigh track “Zibob Paradise Sunny Mountain” with its 350-meter-long twists and turns is guaranteed by the exit of the top-class Sunny Mountain Restaurant. Four athletes compete simultaneously on the track with its many twists and turns, and then Austria’s longest carpet lift with a protective roof takes you back to the start.

Night tobogganing on the illuminated toboggan run: every Tuesday and Thursday until midnight. The top-class Sunny-Mountain-Restaurant invites you to refresh yourself after a fast ride on the snow-white slopes.
You can appreciate the 20 kilometers of winter hiking trails that are optimally laid out for vacationers or snowmobile rides with an experienced guide through the fabulous snowy landscapes in Kappl.

Virgin snow everywhere look
The idyllic mountain village of Kappl, like a pearl, nestled between the Werwall and Zamnaun valleys. What you don’t catch at first glance: freeriders have a blast here! It’s no wonder this place is considered a real secret among freeriders from all over the world! Once you get on your skis and glide a few meters through deep, untouched, fresh snow, feeling the freedom far from the beaten track, you will understand that you have come to the right place!

Good to know! In the region, you will be trained for a descent on a pristine slope at the freeride checkpoint at the Diasbahn mountain station: from a short lecture on the current avalanche danger of the slopes to testing the search beacons.
A little about the town itself
Kappel is located 20 kilometers closer to Munich than Ischgl, the scenic Alpine road takes just over two hours. Those who have been to Ischgl before immediately note the sharp contrasts with the more famous resort: it is a quieter, calmer place and there are no queues at the lifts. By the way, the mountains here are also high, about 3,000 meters, and are almost always well-covered with snow. True, we usually come in early January, but they say there are no problems with snow all season.

Skiing
Skiing and leisure in Kappl is a good alternative to Ischgl in terms of family recreation. The places are the same, the slopes belong to the same Silvretta Arena and a single Silvretta ski pass is suitable for those who want to ski in both resorts. In Kappl, the slopes are safer and many of them are adapted for beginners and children, although there are slopes and not only for beginners, but still more gentle slopes. People are learning to ski all around, mostly children, but there are also adults. In short, ski instructors do not stand idle.
For children, a special amusement park Sunny Mountain has been built here: sledding and skiing in winter, and a zoo and playgrounds in summer. Around the slopes there are small cafes with a typical set of Tyrolean dishes, prices are very moderate compared to Ischgl. In general, everything: accommodation, lifts, food is much cheaper here than in the party towns of Kitzbühel or Ischgl. And in general, Kappl is a real paradise for families who love active recreation.

Family-friendly Kappl
Charming, individual, diverse and picturesque, Kappl in the heart of the Tyrolean mountain range makes families’ dreams come true – from specially prepared accommodation and restaurants for children to a ski area at an altitude of almost 2,700 m. There are 40 km of slopes here, offering families everything they could wish for. Kappl’s hotels can accommodate up to 4,700 people. The town has all types of accommodation – from guesthouses and small private rooms to high-class hotels and apartments (OB). Moreover, accommodation here will cost tourists 10-15% cheaper than in the popular neighboring Ischgl.
Most of the slopes in the region are blue and red, so skiing here will be interesting mainly for beginners and families with children. Among the 18 slopes, eight are of medium difficulty, seven are easy, and three slopes are suitable for very experienced skiers. You can only go down to the city on one slope – the five-kilometer “red” Talabfahrt or by lift. For snowboarders, there is a fan park Alblitt. The highest point of skiing is at an altitude of 2960 meters. From here you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Tyrolean panorama. In addition, Kappel is connected by a single ski pass to the entire Silvretta region. A free ski bus runs between Kappel and neighboring Ischgl and Galtür.

The highlight of the program is the Sunny Mountain adventure park, which causes children to be wildly happy and delighted. It is the best place to enjoy winter experiences in a playful way with a guarantee of learning. The park will take care of children from 4 to 10 years old, and teenagers from 11 to 17 years old will experience many interesting adventures in the Youth Club Paznaun. There is a good restaurant near Sunny Mountain where parents can relax while their children are in the park. Although Kappl is more of a family resort, a minimum set of après-ski in the form of a couple of discos in the valley can also be found. If suddenly everything here gets boring, noisy Ischgl is only five kilometers away.
Kappl in summer
Kappl is a place for musical competitions. Next to a charming playground and the cleanest high-altitude warm lake, musical groups play in a three-story restaurant. At the same time. Almost “who will beat whom”.
Tired – went swimming.

For children, the resort is made in the style of the holiday of the Moomins’ kingdom (read the book), the kids look for secret places, and then receive prizes according to which places they found. The nest at a height of 30m was pleasing. It is absolutely not clear how the children climb there, but they somehow get there !!!!
I really liked the slope in Kappl with a plastic artificial surface for skiing on cheesecakes, 170m long.

And the price of 2 euros for 30 minutes was just killer. You can’t even buy a cup of coffee for 2 euros! And the climb on a conveyor, not on foot! Very cool.
